What is...

What the hell is a 84 1/2 Mustang?

Is it better than a 84 Mustang?

Does it come just short of a 85 Mustang?

All you muscle car lovers, help me with this one...

I cannot remember, but I think that Ford introduced a change then. I think that it was a new body style...notchback? not sure...drawing a blank now

ebpda9 05-15-2003 09:58 PM

i think ford unlike the other car companies used to change parts and desiggn for no reason in the middle of the year.

VW has been known for it as well.

All it means is they changed body styles in the middle of the 84 model year. Not an '84, but not an '85.

I think the 84.5 is the 20th Anniversary. Im not sure what all they did different to it though.

Corvette has also done this. :bandit:

guywithastang 05-16-2003 11:16 AM

There is no 84.5 mustang. you are thinking 64.5 mustang

nonovurbizniz 05-16-2003 11:38 AM

I know they had an anniversary edition that came with markings that said "gt500" or "gt350" one of which came with a turbo 4 cyl... a mechanic I know had one... not sure if it was 84.5 or not though... it was DEFINATELY around there though... it was FAST.

and chris ya it was 64.5 for the first mustang... (my mom/dad have one... not all 64.5 parts though (not restored original))

I can find out from the guy who had the anniv. edition turbo though.

nonovurbizniz 05-16-2003 11:39 AM

ok i seached google it was the anniversary edition and there WAS an 84.5...

http://www.hotfords.com/classified/v...S/84/frank.htm

like I thought it's the 4cyl turbo marked as gt350 not 500... like I said my buddy had one.

nonovurbizniz 05-16-2003 11:44 AM

just fyi almost ever car company makes changes mid-run... some 93 civics had pass. airbag as an option where it was unavailable in the early run of that year and totally unavailable in the 92 model year...

Sometimes it takes the engineers too long to get a working part for the model so they release it and add the option when they can. If it's a big draw option they introduce it in the middle of the year to increase sales for that year.

guywithastang 05-16-2003 11:57 AM

I will look in one of my mustang books. people also claim that there is a 25th anniversary model and there is not. Most GTs before 85 had a turbo four, also the SVO had a turbo four. Good engine though, it can take 25psi of boost with stock internals.

nonovurbizniz 05-16-2003 12:11 PM

the mechanic I know's said anniversary edition on it somewhere.. if you want I can call him and find out for sure... he's a BIG time mustang freak he's had one since they came out.

guywithastang 05-16-2003 12:26 PM

I dont doubt it is real. I am just saying I will check my books and get hard facts if you want to know for sure. No dis on your mechanic. sorry if I sounded like a prick:)

nonovurbizniz 05-16-2003 12:36 PM

no that's cool books are definately more reliable.
