DVC Sub Wiring..i think i got it wrong?
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, ya know how with Dual Voice Coil subs (DVC) you have 2 negative posts and 2 postive posts on EACH sub. Well the first diagram is how i connected my subs, wiring and stuff. But i just browsed on alpines website (my subs are Type R 12" DVCs) and it showed me a completely different way to wire them. Look below..

ohter way...

and this is the way they connected them on Alpines website to one amplifier. It basically says that from the + terminal on the amp, you connect it to ONE + post from EACH sub and from the - post you connect it to ONE - from EACH sub and then ua re left over with one - and one + post on each sub. So it shows to connect the left over - and + posts on each separate sub together. I hope you followed..here is a diagram to help explain it..anyways, i need to know if they did somethign wrong of if i did?!?! I have been using MY setup (first one) for over 6 months now. Please tell me the difference. thanks!

or a better diagram can be found at

the difference is the ohm load. what the ohm load does is a) it pulls more or less power from your amp(s) depending the actual load, and b) changes the sound quality and temperature of the amp. the way you should wire them depends on which amp you have and the recommended ohm load for that amp.

Accord: The first diagram is probably what's best. That'll put a 2 ohm load to your sterio amp. This should get the most power out of the amp and not blow it....
Any more questions? |
nah..that sould be good..for now..thakns@! DRNK

It really depends all on the impedance of the Voice coils. |
