Car Whining?

My car whines really loud when idling or revving or nething its not ac so what is it ? i think its the alternator not sure tho if it is i guess i gotta replace it. it also could be my powersteering so i dont know exactly? help!?

it's hard to tell without hearing it but it might be the bearings in the alternator

guarantee you that you have a power steering pump leak. Where exactly is the noise coming from?

::EDIT:: are you experiencing your PS fluid getting lower in the reservoir quickly or often?

Does the whining change frequency as you rev? Could be bearings on anything belt-driven - I've having a similar problem but haven't looked to see what it is yet.

what? don't u know how to check minor complications urself? check ur belts, fluids, etc . . . not that hard

Ive checked everything.. I think it might be the alt. cause it seems to be coming from that region, if it is how do i tell? If its not what could it be coming from that region? It gets louder as i rev the engine if that helps.
