Bypass Parking Brake Switch
 

Anyone have an idea on how to bypass the parking brake switch on the Pioneer AVH-6400CD. It has a single wire that taps into the parking brake sensor wire. You can't view video unless it gets some sort of signal. I know there was a way to do this on the Alpine units, I just can't remember how.

Any ideas?

I'd guess that the unit is looking for a specific voltage to say that the brake is set. I'd measure that voltage (or look it up) and set up some sort of simulator that gives off that voltage. The simulator could take a 12V source and step it down to the required level. Just an idea.

Yeah I was thinking something like that. I was just going to tap into a switched 12v source, but I heard that doesn't work.

i believe your supposed to pull up the e-brake tap the regular brake twice or something like that, what you need to do it setup some switches with the polairty it needs ground for the e-brake and 12v for the brake i believe and just tape the switches and it'll come on.

The wire that taps into the parking brake just taps into the power side, not the ground.

Well since I'm snowed in(literally; 8-10" snow), maybe I'll be off work tomorrow. I'll mess with it.

the parking brake (e-brake) i'm pretty sure it's ground when i did my remote starter... just use a switch
