Clicking in the morning
 

Ok, I know this has probably been asked before, I looked for it and couldn't find it, so I guess I will just ask away. I have owned 3 honda's in my lifetime and all 3 would click before the car warmed up. It wasn't loud, just enough to where I could hear it when I turned the stereo off. After the car warmed up, no more clicking. What is making that clicking noise? Is there anything I can do to stop it from clicking?

Are you talking about the clicking that comes from the motor?

when was the last time you did a valve adjustement ? that's the problem.

How often should you get a valve adjustment?

honda reccomends it every 15 k miles

How many miles are on your car? what model? auto/manual?

Then I guess that makes me 25K behind, guess I need to see about getting that done. Thanks for the help :bow:

2000 Civic SI, manual, 40K miles

Valve Adjustment: Every 15,000 miles or 12 months (most engines)
Why? Proper valve clearance is critical to maintain engine performance and fuel economy

I check the valve adjustment on my friends 94 ex with 148,000 miles and it was still in spec.

Save your money check it yourself
The wrong oil can cause your clicking noise also.
Your manual says 5w-30 your not driving a chevy where you need thicker oil to help seal up the cylinders.
HOnda uses 5w-30 Castrol GTX from the factory try switching your valves will love you for it.

How hard is it to check it yourself?

my 2002 ex does the same thing...its just the engine being cold

yah..that happened to mine..i think its the cold weather..but then again..it could be the valve.

Is called cold ass fuel injectors. Also known as normal. Unless it's a really loud knock, then I think it's just ur injectors.
