it's just hard to feel and hear vtec on a low powered motor, but yes, you have it

JDMB16 01-30-2003 06:14 PM

yes it is. The reason you don't hear it is because it isn't as prominent as a DOHC VTEC motor. Do a swap and you can hear it very well

BTW, myself_included, it's spelled NITROUS not NYTROUS  ;)

vtec isnt' meant to be "felt" the newer honda vtec engines are vtec-e's the e is for economy. thats one of the ways honda made their civics get great gas mileage but it's also meant to add some power to the engine. it usually kicks in around 5000 rpms

wrong, only the HX is VTEC-E

Honda530 01-30-2003 09:41 PM

yeah you do. You have the same car as my lil brother. Open up hte hood and look behind hte valve cover on the left You should see a solonoid. Thats the vtec solonoid. The ohter best way to hear is to get a short ram intake. It will make it easier to hear. If you dont have the cash just remove the silencer of the stock intake. Pretty simple to do. It should hit around 5500rpm
