Interior Sound Reduction
 

Hey everyone,

Been awhile since I have visited. Glad to see the site is still up and running. Well I got a question. I have seen 2 Honda Civics with this problem, mine one of them. The interior seems to attract a lot of rode noise from outside. I have dynomated the flooring of the car (under the carpet and all obvious places). I went to autozone and bought some rubberizer sound reduction spray, but not sure how much help it gave. Does anyone, or has anyone had this problem. Its kinda annoying to have to raise your voice while going down the road sometimes. I was thinking about a total underbody coating, but havent researched prices for that yet. Any hints or suggestions are welcome. Thanks a bunch and good to be back home :)

i dont have very much road noise in my car, and im not even dynamatted yet...

maybe your weatherstripping is loose or somethin

i dont know about that, but i have a large rattle on the rear deck from the speakers... the stock ones... they soud great but rattle really bad when i play techno style music with a heavy bassline

look at your windows if they close properly.

i have the same prob and ive checked everything else too...im plagued by it

Your speaker is blown. Get it replaced.

As for to much road noise.

Make sure that your weather sealing around the doors is not damaged. Are your wheels rubbing anywhere? Also, depending on the tires you have, some tires may be exceptionally louder then others, so this could be the case.

My car is kind of loud, but if you've dynomatted it, that should slow down the sound waves quite a pit.

Are you sure its just not your tires? My 15 inch Kuhmos had a killer road noise from hell.. I put my stock 14s back on and its nice and quiet again. Some of those high performance tires are a ***** when it comes to road noise.:o

Hehe...no i dont think his speaker is blown, you back dash rattles like a *****. Mine does to..I just replaced my stock system with all Polk Audio, and it still rattles....what i did was stuck crumpled up paper and kinda worked it in..you gotta kinda find where the back dash kinda meets the frame its connected to. might help it alittle =)

You may want to get some dynomat and mat the back piece, do the trunk when you're at it too.

My back deck vibrates on the back window.. Its like a squeaking rattle.. It gets old.. Ive been meaning to fix it for the last 3.5 years but Im to lazy to mess with it.:crazy:

Get some dynamat or try my idea. It works really good, but you need to stuf enough in there to push up against the back dash. You will see what i mean.

Also, if you use a sub, which most people do. I hate hearing licence plates rattle. Take a few paper towels, fold it up and tape it to the back of the plate...bam cheapest dynamat there is. =)

My car some road noise too. Its a Civic, not a Lexus. ;)


Very true. When I had my 17's there was alot more raod noise than with my 15's.

As for road noise, I had the same problem. Believe it or not tired make a big difference. I have 17 inch tenzos and I put the stocks back on and it made a large difference in road noise, especially on the freeway.
