I HATE APC!!!! RRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! (you gotta see this)

APC sux, this is the last straw.

Ok, i have been in this scene for 3 years or so now, so i know (have always known) that APC stuff is junk. But listen to this. . . . . . . . . . I needed to buy new Honda emblems for my civic, because my front emblem was messed up. I go to the local auto store, just to see what kinda emblems were available. I saw a set of white emblems (made by APC of corse). I said to myself, "I know APC stuff is junk, but how bad can an emblem be????" So i bought them.

Now, 4 months later, i go to the car wash today, and the water from the carwash delaminates the emblem and it comes apart. Now i am stuck with a stupid ghetto white thing on my hood.

I dont know how to remove it (it is held on by adhesive) without hurting my paint, any suggestions?

ebpda9 01-19-2003 09:44 PM

hmm that is really wacked. try patiently to remove the emblem

cashizslick 01-19-2003 09:45 PM

By the way, i dont see this as the car wash's fault for having water that is too hot. (was a damn good car wash besides this lol)

ebpda9 01-19-2003 09:47 PM

i know. i'm not touching apc products again unless they are toilet paper :loco:

cashizslick 01-19-2003 09:48 PM

APC=A piece of Crap. How can they not even make an emblem? (i bet their toilet paper would be something no short of sand paper-ouch!)

pauls-si 01-19-2003 10:00 PM

After you remove the emblem any adhesive that is left might come off with some rubbing alchohol and rubb it off with your thumb. If that doesn't work napa sells a pinstripe and adhesive removal wheel. It looks like a big round eraser that goes on a drill.

pdiggitydogg 01-19-2003 10:01 PM

i had one on my hood for awhile too, just take a small screwdriver, cover it w/ a rag and start GENTLY prying it up. then youre gonna have to remove all the resis from the sticky stuff...get some goo gone and a hairdryer and start working...eventually when all the goop is gone you need to wash that spot (this will remove the goo gone leavin's and also help get rid of any sticky stuff left behind) Just take your time taking it all off. (I hear that rubbing alcohol works getting the goop off too)

Accord Man 01-19-2003 10:09 PM

heat it up..

then pass dental floss under it..

When its off, use WD-40 to remove the remaining adhesive.. DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER OR RUBBING ALCOHOL.

Kyle 01-19-2003 10:09 PM

maybe a hairdryer?...or floss?

Why not use nail polish remover or rubbin alcohol? Does it wreck the paint? What about adhesive tape remover? I used that on my car before to remove the "Civic EX" emblem.

pdiggitydogg 01-19-2003 10:21 PM

nail polish remover is designed to remove paint...your car is painted...stick w/ the goo gone and hairdryer

Wren57 01-19-2003 10:29 PM

APC:pukey = worse than stock

armyguy5 01-19-2003 10:33 PM

always hand wash your car =)

What I suggested is the safest solution I can think of.

Don't you know? APC=CRAP

Shot 2 Hel 01-20-2003 07:18 PM

good luck getting it off tell us how it goes

cashizslick 01-20-2003 07:51 PM

Yeah, i wrote the company, telling them that their emblems are a joke (not that harsh), and asked them what i should do. I probably wont get a response.

02CiviC 01-21-2003 09:39 AM

dude that sucks...use the covered screwdriver and goo gone, worked for me when i took off my emblems

pdiggitydogg 01-21-2003 10:05 AM

you'll probably get a replacement emblem if you wrote them...tell them you want a refund instead. Just be sure to say that you plan on telling everyone you know (including all of HS) that APC is the worst thing youve ever bought for your car (like we dont already know :D). After they read/hear that, they will most likely do whatever you want (within reason). Yes, you might think that sounding like an ass is wrong...but when dealing w/ companies it is good because then you get free stuff or a +refund.

cashizslick 01-21-2003 02:08 PM

Lol, might be too late for that, but, if i have time.

Also, i really dont want this to happen again, which it will, so It is not a big deal to me if i get a new emblem or not.

msvtec14 01-21-2003 02:40 PM

I would just like to say that I think this thread is wonderful. I had the biggest problem with APC and thier mirrors. I actually call APC American Piece of Crap.

pdiggitydogg 01-21-2003 02:45 PM

^I call it the same thing

msvtec14 01-21-2003 02:58 PM

I don't know. I guess that's what I get for putting American parts on an import car. The hell with that Co.

cashizslick 01-21-2003 03:02 PM

Anybody else ever have a real bad APC experience? I bought one of their air filters a while ago, and after 2 months, it fell apart and my engine was sucking in unfiltered air. I remember driving and my car starting to smell like burning, poping my hood, and seeing the air filter lying in my engine bay.

That's terrible. I know that it's not funny but if that hapenned to me and there was someone watching and they saw the look on my face when I discovered the air filter layer there...they'd think it was pretty funny because I would flip out and do something crazy like light the air filter on fire and smear it in dog poop or something and throw it back in the box and mail back to APC.

I think thats how the APC makes their stuff. Anyways, i stopped my car at the closest place i was near>Circut City-lol. They gave me some rubber bands which i used to hold the air filter on to my intake long enough to get to a near by speedshop, so i could get a new filter.

I sort of had a bad experience with VIS when it came to getting my body kit put on my car. I got the kit which appeared to be perfect. To where it didn't need to be straightened or smoothed out. I had two of my friends that are in the auto body business look at it. So I dropped it off along with my car to have it put on and painted. So my auto body calls me the next day and is all like "These side skirts don't fit it all". This guy is a perfectionist too and he asked that I call VIS too see if there was any need for altercation or that maybe they'd sent us the wrong part. They said no and that it should go on fine and blah blah blah. Which wasn't the case at all. So it pretty much took this guy an extra day to meticulously cut the side skirts so that he could make them fit perfectly. He would just cut little by little. And he ended up having to do several things to the bumpers too. I guess that is expected with any body kit as it's an aftermarket part but what this guy had to do was definitely unexpected. It all worked out for the best. But here's what pissed me off...I saw my body kit being sold be a reseller. And the reseller specifically stated that the kit did need some altercations. But VIS didn't and they denied any such thing. And I ended up having to pay more $ that I was expecting to pay and that put me out financially. If I had knew that, I would've planned accordingly. I guess it's just the principal of the matter. Sorry. This is long.

Hold on there!!!! This is advertisement that MAKES true American products look bad, check your little APC box and you will read MADE IN TAIWAN, this company is plane BS, yes BS. Not only the products are made by people that make parts for your Hondas but they are also OWNED by out of country A$$ munchers!!!!!!!! This is not an American product company, you should read all small print before buying. There, i said my 2-cents worth for us true domestic lovers(not intended to bash imports). Later!

hondariz 01-22-2003 10:34 PM

after the floss idea(which does work), i would get some 3M adhesive, tar, and wax remover. stuff works like a charm. after that, justt slap some wax on the spot and buff to a shine. you'll be good to go.

cashizslick 01-23-2003 09:53 AM

cool, ill get to doing this when it is not so cold out.

ebpda9 01-23-2003 10:12 AM

i had some windshield washers nozzles with the light made by apc. yeah i didn't have them wired to light up but i had the wires tied to the hood, and one of the nozzles broke while i was driving. you should have seen it going up in the air like a kit. it was flying like 3 feet above my car lol. i know it doesn't sound i funny but you should have seen the thing. also i had to buy new squirters again and i got apc cause they were 9.99 compared to 65 for ones from honda

msvtec14 01-25-2003 11:34 AM

Ha ha. LOL to the mental images. I drove around with almost the whole selt belt hanging out of the back door last week (in the Neon).
