Good, lesser-known songs....
Hey guys, I'm trying to find some new music to d/l to expand my collection and I was wondering what some good lesser-known songs/bands are. Alternative, punk, maybe some emo...
What do you listen to? |
try and find a song by the Sloppy Meateaters called Fresh Air..
also, download some Aesop Rock, see my signature =) |
propaghandi, anti-flag, ten foot poll, H2O, operation ivy, rancid, nofx, common rider, millencolin, lagwagon, hi standard, good riddance, and if you want some chill irsh punk check out flogging molly or dropkick murphys. they arnt for everyone, but i like em. that covers most ends of punk, unless you want something like crass, but i for some reason doubt that
|
oh, on occation i peace together driving music for me, which only consists of punk, next time i make one, i'll post up the song list if anyone wants it
|
From Autumn to Ashes. Finch. Coheed & Cambria. Thursday is probably my favorite band for right now. I tend to go through phases. Radiohead is always good. This is pretty much what I have been listening to steadily for the past few weeks. It changes depending on my mood.
|
im getting back into oldschool ska-punk
|
Anything by Mr Bungle.. :paranoid:
|
Mr Bungle...You know that song where the guys all like "WHAT IS IT?!" Is that guy's band the Mr Bungle band? I don't know why that sounds familiar to me.
|
Dropkick Murphys...are they an irish drinking band that's in Boston all the time?

I can't name any of thier songs or whatever but I know that I have heard them and they're kick ass.  I saw a lot of the bands you mentioned above at Warped Tour this past August. Also kick ass. |
yeah... i missed warped tour. SO SO SO SO mad. i guess theres always next year.
|
I'm sorry that you missed it. Want to hear something really shitty? Well, the one that I went to was in NY and it was in the middle of the summer and we were in a draught. So there was all this dust up in the air near all the bands from kids dancing. It was sooooooo thick. I had such a hard time breathing. They were selling Michael Jackson masks because of this. Also, it was like 100 degrees out.
|
well im guessin that you dont listen to hip hop because you didnt list it
i mostly listen to it 50cent is a lesser known rapper, his songs are aight, i like "in da club" im not gonna list the more recognized ones cuz theres too many |
so u are looking only for alternative, rock, punk. if u want techo or something that's really fast ask me.

chris |
alot of you named some good bands, id be interested in a list for driving songs chris if you do that.
some of you may not like these bands but... Osker, Deviates, AFI, Taking back sunday, bad religion, my fingers are sick of typing |
not your style but certainly lesserknown is the CD that i've been listening to for the last month without listening to ANYTHING else is Alizée - Gourmandises. she's french and sings pop. i set my personal record listening to her cd. in 2 days i listened to one song set on repeat from that cd for a total of 11 hours.
her site: www.moi-alizee.com yes there is an english version once you get past the flash intro. look to the top-right. i know some french so its very interesting to me. actually i think i'm going to change my avy and sig here once i get internet on my computer. most of my other forums are her now. btw... you can dl her songs on Kazaa (and music vids) to get an idea of what they sound like. the CD can be purchased online internationally through Tower Records for 18 bucks. not bad for imported goods. |
Finch...I've heard one song of theirs that I'm in love with. I believe it's called 3 words or 3 simple words...something to that extent. I like the uh, I guess I should say layering of the vocals. They're coming to CT w/From Autumn to Ashes in Feb. Or so I'm told but I know that I'm def going if that is in fact the case.
|
heres my current list im burning.

Want to make me a c.d. and somehow beam it up here for me? I have no c.d.s with me here at work and I do not like it.
:D |
if any of you guys are around the Atlanta area, then you may have heard this group, they are called Group X. They are an "Arabic" rap group. Really, its like 3 white guys from Tennesse, with accents, and they rap kinda like KoRn. They are hilarious, i highly suggest them...
|
he sounded like he wanted more punk/alternative type music. like indie bands and unknown record lables.
|
I don't understand how they're "Arabic" if they're from Tennesee. Is it a poser accent like that of Shaggy?
|
Quote:
pretty much. chriscantskate - they are unknown. they have 2 cds out, and really nobody has heard of em'. download a song of theirs, i swear, no dissapointment. |
Quote:
yeah... but they are rap, not punk/alternative. i'll check them out though |
when my friend passed away all we played wa letters to you by finch
go AFI chris |
Im currently listening the hell out of
The Voodoo Glow Skulls (I recommend Voodoo Anthem or El Coo Cooi) The Transplants (Tim Armstrong's new thing, chris you should check it out. Kinda rap though) Tsunami Bomb (Chick band, they're great) |
Well Tsunami Bomb only has a chick singer, but the Distillers are great too!
|

omg... theres a band i havnt herd of in a while.... very good |
i have to get my two bands in here that nobody really knows about......all those people who like Finch, AFI, Bad Religion, etc seem to have the same taste as me..... so dl:
Keepsake - "The Negative Space" "Cartoon Life" "Black Dress in and A B Movie" "Ticket to Russia" Park - any song |
I know that everyone likes different things so I'm really not trying to knock anyone. I'm just merely stating my opinion as we're on the subject of music. The majority of rap really just annoys me. I'm really not into music that I can't relate to in one way or another. I really don't like to hear about hittin it from the back or Missy Elliot's thong or her cha cha or how this guy busted a cap or. There are rappers that I do like. Not because of what they say but just because of how it's presented. I don't know if that sounds right. Basically, it's just all about the beats. Ludakris. Busta. The BigTimers. 50 cent is ok too. In regard to Busta, the man has mad talent. In terms of hard core music combined with rap, it is all about Candiria.

im the same way... i just cant relate to any rap, nor stand it as a music type, but i have tried to like it. i dont like being close minded |
Quote:
what bout Tupac... Mad Talent !!!!!!!! |
Quote:
Yeah, I'm not really into rap anymore, but Tupac, Biggie, Nas, and maybe a couple of others are where its at. |
Quote:
you could probly add Jay-Z and Dr Dre to the list too.. they've been around for more than a minute and have put out some good stuff |
