cant decide, waht do you think?

Ok heres the deal. I have a 96 civic coupe automatic. Im saving up and by summer i will have 2000+ saved for the car. Yet i dont know what to do.

Heres waht iv done so far its nothing major:
Red/clears
Motegi mr7s gunmetal
black housing lights (wasnt planning on it but i got in an accident and figued why not)
And next week new stereo to replace the one that got stolen

Now, What should i do this summer? To me swap engine and tranny sounds like a plan however is 2000 enough to buy the engine/tranny?, and i have some serious doubts about putting it in myself or with some friends.

If i dont go with the swap im going with cwest body kit prob. new speakers exhaust few other exterior mods. Yet part of me doesnt feel right driving around with exterior mods and nothing under the hood.

Sorry that was alot to read. But what would you all do? Thanks

For two grand, probably not.

If you want speed, then go ahead and save more money + then swap it.

i agree it is definately the way to go. for $2500 you can easily afford the tranny and engine as well as all other parts (if you buy from osaka).
www.c-speedracing.com/howto/b18cswap/swap.php is a how to on swap and it seems pretty damn easy to me and very straight forward. I say if you have the time and just think about what youre doing, it is very possible

i looked into an engine swap just for future plans and i have found tons of $2000 wrecked civics with less than 30k miles.....

Worst part about swapping is not having the nessecary tools like an engine hoist and stuff.

If I found a local reliable shop waht would be a price for the swap you think?
ANy1 around st louis know how to swap? lol

iRACEmyCTR 01-11-2003 03:22 PM

cost of engine: $3000
cost of having someone put it in for you: $1000-2000
knowing that you did all the work yourself and know soo much more about your vehicle: priceless

sounds ghey but it's true... i get soooo much props for doing the swap myself its sick!

Civicfrenzy 01-11-2003 05:46 PM

yea i would want to do it myself. Its just im a little paranoid about messing it up. How hard is it really...ne suggestions on how to learn how other than just reading maybe i have time to learn.
