99 to 97 bumper swap?

My friend has a 99 Si and I have a 97 Civic. I'm thinking of buying his bumper from him, but I need to know if it'll fit or not before I do buy it. Any body know if his bumper will fit on my car?

96-00 bumpers are the same.

you might have a few problems with the 99 Si bumper fitting on a 97 Lx... its virtually the same bumper but I believe it lines up slightly different....check into it, before buying. ?

the bumper, fenders, hood, radiator support, and lights are all different in the 96-98 and 99-00 civics. The Si bumper will not fit properly without changing everything else too.

this is a PERECT example of people TALKING shit.. the first two people OBVIOUSLY had NO clue what they were talking about saying yeah it would line up... NO IT WON'T as stated... without extra mdifications... hwo sucky would it have been if he believed the first two people and bought the bumper and was left holding it....

oh please, just calm it. I was almost certain the bumpers off a 96-98 would fit a 2k. Most parts are interchangeable... why not the bumper?

if you look closely the headlights are differant... that would ALSO make the fenders differant... which in turn would make the hood differant... the radiator suport just happens to be differant...

point is simple.. IF NOT 100% SURE CLEARLY STATE THAT... so you don't cost someone time and money or even damage... would you have felt liek shit if he spent his money on it then could not get it on??? or if he ****ed up his ride FORCING it on cause YOU said it would fit... its SO important to give ACCURATE info as to avoid costing people TIME & MONEY..

ENOUGH SAID..

point well taken....calm down your tone........

TeriyakiBroccoli 12-16-2002 11:50 PM

nyeh whatever.. arguing is fruitless.

Anyways, I made the assumption thinking I was 100% sure. So i guess not eh?

Yeah, right after my first post I did some looking around at pics of 97 Civics and 99 Civics and noticed the difference in the headlights and everything. But thanks for the help.

no it doesnt piss me off. Not everyone knows everything. People make mistakes and just because they do doesnt mean the world's gonna end. Just be glad that people like you or me are there when a mistake is made to correct it. Hell I know I don't know everyhing and I know you dont know everyting either. When I post something and I'm wrong I feel like an ass for saying what I did but I am glad there someone corrected it before the person that posted the original Q is mislead.

People make mistakes...its human nature...just correct one when you see it and go on with your life.
