b16

Well I thinking about swapping a b16 or an LS motor which one shoud I go for.If I swap a b16 head and an LS block what kind of problems would I come across. If I would swap it what headers would I have to get b16 or Ls headers and what about turbo and intake etc...How easy is it to do this kind of swap.

I'm kind of wondering the same question for my Teg..a JDM B16a1 or ls/VTEC swap? I haven't called around for prices or anything. But I am startin to get concerned with how many miles my stock engine has...138k

As long as u go with B serise motor you'll be good not sure about the 2nd question. Im planing in jan to buy my GSR or Type R motor for my Civic i can't wait ;) good luck with your decsion.

unless your starting with a cable transmission I'd avoid the first run b16a's....

and as far as which one... well do you feel comfortable with the process involved with swapping a vtec head onto a non-vtec block? if not don't get an ls/vtec. If your getting it done by someone else I wouldn't get the ls/vtec unless you KNOW they've done it before or are capable of doing it and willing to GUARUNTEE that.

So it's better just to get a b16a1 then.Which one should I get then a b16a1 or an b18a/b.what do you think.

drdingo21 12-16-2002 11:27 PM

I wouldn't even mess with a b16, just go straight for a b18c, or if your not doing forced induction then do a b18c5

racerus 12-17-2002 11:20 PM

But wouldn't my best bet be to get a b16a1 because the b16a2 and the b18c5 are hydraulic trannies right and I have a cable and I don't want to convert to much trouble.

nonovurbizniz 12-18-2002 12:35 PM

Ya it'd be easier to stick with what you got.

and personally I've always like cable trannies

Either motor is good. The B16A would be a little better than the B18A/B if you were going to keep it all motor. With boost either one is good, but if you're looking to go with alot of boost I would choose the B18A. Lower compression will be better for higher boost.

Either motor can be picked up relatively cheap, the B16A1 with the cable trans could be had for about $1,050 and the B18A could be picked up for about $700-1000 depending on mileage and condition. Hope this helps some and goodluck.

well thanks guys for the help and I think about the two either the b18a or b16a1.
