brakes making funny noises

I have a stock 97 dx hatch. when car is in motion and releasing the breaks, it makes a real funny noise. kinda like if a metal object would rub in some kind of tube, it's really hard to explain. Anybody have any clue as to what may be causing this?

yeah theyre going bad.... get it replaced... most likely its the rotors cuz my friend got an 04 accord and his brakes are already out... he had to replace the rotors under warranty. the only reason his brakes went bad is because he didnt do anything about it when it made light noises. After a while it became the same noise as you where it sounds nails rubbing against a chalkboard. It also made the noise even when the brakes were not pressed.
The best thing for you do it is get em fixed before its too late. The longer you wait the more it will cost... just keep that in mind

I don't think it's the rotors or the front pads, they basically new. It doesn't make a grindy noise at all. it's only when i let off the brake pedal. but it does sound like metal rubbing but it's not grindy.

Your pads are probably shot. When the brake material gets too thin, there's a 'wear bar' that rubs against the rotor and drives you crazy, "making funny noises"...

Well it could possibally be the little metal clips that holds your brake pads in place..My delsol was doing that once when i put new pads on it i took the wheel back off and i noticed that was the problem so i took the pad off and removed the little metal clip and problem solved..Good luck

The purchase of an extended warranty should be considered. . If you do purchase, I would suggest an extended warranty from National Repair Solutions .

Several from Edmunds have purchased from these folks, and have saved some :money:
