Valves, Springs & Retainers
 

I am looking to replace most of my top end because I have a bad tick and its no the normal Honda noise. I have been looking a a lot of different sets from Skunk2 to Toda. I am leaning towards Skunk2 because of price but i would like some opinions. Just to clarify set meaning valves, retainers @ springs. I am also going to upgrade to cams when I get the cash but I am worried about the tick at the moment.

I just dont like anything skunk2 makes...well besides their shifter, but thats hard to screw up (it was their uca's and their warranty policy that did it for me).
Toda is pretty baller status, but they make good parts, cant argue with that.
Persoanlly, Im using crowers.

Maybe you just really need a valve adjustment?

Nah Ive done that. It didnt fix it. I dont know what it could be. It is coming from the right hand side near the cam gears but its not coming from the cam gears.

Ferea. Decent price but it works. Not a fan of Skunk2 myself. Toda is too much $$$. I'm actually looking into some custom stuff from a shop in NC.

Ferrea makes some good stuff. I was in contact with them long ago (and by long ago, I mean about 6 or 7 years) to do some valve work on my heads. They seemed to really know their shit. I don't know much about their business now, but I can only assume it's grown with the same quality of work. Props to Arnel for reminding me of that company.

what cams are you going to go with? that would be my deciding factor in the choice of valvetrain. i just unloaded a lot of buddy club parts and i have been impressed with their quality. the price is tough to beat as well. There is no reason to upgrade your valvetrain if you are not planning on changing to a higher lift cam or revving your motor to higher then stock rpms. if you don't want to change that, then you can never go wrong with oem.
