a96710 01-11-2003 12:29 AM

ChrisCantSkate 01-11-2003 11:15 AM

Newbie question here.. would that 20hp gain be the cumalative gain from cam and I/H/E or from the cam itself only if I/H/E were installed?

juvenile 01-13-2003 04:44 PM

I think just by the wording of his answer it's from the cams alone AFTER you do i/h/e

yes. you cant make your engine take more air in(cams) without reducing the restrictive flow(i/h/e) and expect the same gains

ChrisCantSkate 01-14-2003 10:39 AM

the more i think about it the lower i think it will be, maybe 15hp

KwikR6 01-14-2003 02:02 PM

Either way...I wouldn't *****

sohc_vtec 2NR 01-14-2003 06:49 PM

port and polish would prolly do u wonders with a new cam...but u might need to tune ur fuel map and such if ur goin' quite "extreme":pfft:

juvenile 01-15-2003 10:50 AM

How much do cams usually go for?

ChrisCantSkate 01-15-2003 01:15 PM

vtec engines is usualy about 650 for a pair, or about 350-375 for sohc engines. non vtec its usualy about 550 and 275-300 respectivly

pdiggitydogg 01-16-2003 03:41 PM

they make cams?

i understand that they just started recently, but I thought they only made vtec cams.

Honda530 01-16-2003 07:37 PM

I would go with Zex for SOHC Camshafts. I really like them a lot and have driven a 95 civic ex vtec with a zex camshaft and cam gear with some head work I/H. That thing was awsome. He walked away from me like I was going anywhere. The car runs 15.5 et. The camshaft is 238.99 from www.zex.com. I think that you would be really happy with them. I HIGHLY recommend zex. If you had a DOHC then id go with skunk2.

15.5? well at least the camshaft isn't too expensive.
