am i the only one?

I'm starting to really hate people who mod civics. What happened to trying to be different? Everyone is just buy the same cheep eco box car and trying to push an extra 25hp out of a motor designed to be fuel efficent.

I can't be the only one now can I?

I'm getting tired of these cars that are all noise and no go, people with ground effect kits and sound systems in a little machine that is just like all the other ricers.. but this ones in blue  People think they're all hot with a muffler system but thats childs play, engine swap... why not buy a better car? The only thing that makes sense is a turbo.. all the rest is a waste of time and money but since time is money its just money wasted. not to mention every punk blasts techno or rap. What about being different?

I'm not bashing honda/acura because i love their cars, but can't people try nissa or lexus? Why is it that every punk gets a civic? It makes me sick, its like people have no taste. Or why dont people save up more money and buy a decent car (as in more power, theres nothing wrong with buying a civic. Its a great car, just dont mod it) so that they dont look like the next guy. I'm the only guy at my school with a 3.5rl for many reasons but non the less i stand out, there are a bunch of people that drive around with civics but most of my friends (using the term lightly) own something that requires a bit more money and that tends to lead to something more stylin.

On another note i tried blasting classic music and guess what i liked it. I was the only one doing it! I got some odd looks from people but for the most part it went over well.

just me ranting about shit cars

Racing Rice 08-17-2002 06:45 PM

Well, in some ways I agree with you.. Im so sick of civics its not even funny. I cant wait to get rid of mine most days. But the fact is. The Civic is one of the cheapest to own and one of the easiest to mod. You can pick them up cheap compared to a lot of cars, and any and every part you would ever want to mod can be done for a civic. Yeah, its cool to have a rare car. But then you run into the problem of finding parts, etc. Honestly, there arent near as many parts for your RL as there are for a civic. Not to mention, RLs arent that cheap.

I understand where you coming from kinda, it sucks that a lot of 16 year olds that drive civics, think their car is a porshce when its just daddys car handed down. And think "because the civic in Super Street is fast, so so is mine." People like that make it hard for the rest of us. Blame it on the people not the car.

Violent Apathy 08-18-2002 03:48 AM

Come down to phoenix. There's like an epedemic of riceritis down here. Buncha modded civics and 3rd gen Integras in the school parking lot.I'm the only guy with a 2ng gen Teggy.

Wren57 08-18-2002 11:35 AM

I hate civics in this city. I only know of one decent one, and it runs 14sec 1/4 miles (remember my post with the navigator... yeah, that one)... just yesterday a dumbass kid with blonde moosed up hair tried to race me in his stock 4door 5th gen civic. I mean, come on... I heard him punch it because my windows were down... I let him get about 2 cars then floored it myself... by the time I shifted gears I was 1car ahead of him... its ridiculous... but then again its hard being "different" because you will always see a car the same model as yours that has been modded too... I mean come on, I drive a modded Highlander...:D

juvenile 08-18-2002 03:27 PM

You know what, in some points I agree with you.
People that THINK they are shit but ARE NOT piss me off.
You can hate people with Maxima's the same way if they think they're Supras and all.
But if you seriously make your civic fast, meaning have it run 12's, I think that still takes some money, and dont' tell me the argument of "well with that money buy a better car", but with the money that I spend on making a 12 sec civic, I'll only get a 15 second Maxima. True it has more class, but what if it's speed and racing that I'm after.

Now here comes your next point, alot of people hate civics. **** what alot of people think. What I own and spend money on is MY choice. I don't give a shit what people think. And I know you pretty much think the saem way too.

Now with the music, I understand what you mean when people blast the music just to look cool, but what if they actually LIKE it. Like me for example, I love rap/reggae/hip hop/r&b music. Not that there is anything wrong with classical. I listen to it at home sometimes, but I'm can't see myself doing it in the car becuase it's too calm in the car, I feel liek I'll fall asleep. It's what each person likes.

TruHeel142 08-18-2002 07:50 PM

Biker.....you realized what I have, thats why I'm selling my car. I'm tired of driving around in "just another integra". Its N/a, slow, and i'm just tired of being thrown into the ricer category even if my car is about as far away as i thought i could get. I think in the end its just a smarter idea to get a cheaper car, save up for awhile, and then get something nice, because if u throw all ur money into a car with little potential....no offense but unless u have 10 grand on hand to throw into a built motor and turbo, a integra rs isn't gonna be shit.......its a waste of money and time u could be saving for something amazing. oh well

mt.biker 08-18-2002 08:28 PM

but dimitry is it all about the speed?if its all about speed get somethign cheaper and turbo the shit out of it.

I really dont care what other people think about my ride, all i'm saying is that your doing the same thing as everyone else. Dont you want to carve your own path or blaze a new trail? You know for me its all about the speed, but personally i'm about max speed. 0-60 times are great but if its in a shit box with all motor what are you sayin? My engine is fast in this light car?

anywho

TruHeel142 thats my point, everyone is driving the samething. I would rather be different and be slower then be fast and the same. Granted its my view on things but are we all just another number is society? What about idividuality? everyone with the same car is no fun.

Wow. Someone beat me to the post.

I'm ashamed to even say what kind of car I have. Hell 3 years ago or so when I had my EX I was proud of it. But now we have all these ****ing little kids with Civics that are assholes. Its no wonder other drivers hate us. I mean hell if I drove a stang and some kid in his Civic rev'd on me every fricking light I'd start to hate them too.

And whats with revving on people that are on the other side of the road or in a turn lane? What is the point? What you think I'm gonna do a frickin U turn just to race your slow ass?

VTEC isn't a god like technology. It doesn't make you win a race when your 3 car lengths behind. Wow I have 160hp. That's awesome. But wait a minute. Where's my torque? Yeah all 112 ft/lb are so high in teh RPM range it doesn't even count. Screw VTEC and give me some damn torque.

Well I feel somewhat better now......

see most people think its hp that gives you that kick back in your seat, but its really the tq. Well im lucky becausei have more tq then hp.

I guess civics have become the cheap performance car of the masses. every punk has one and wants to race it. I raced a rice civic once and i killed him twice, he didn't even stand a chance and i started in second gear to... civics are cool though if your not gonna mod it. Dont get me wrong here its a great car but if you want performance please please try something else.

Surfr 08-19-2002 09:48 AM

wow I'm sure glad I don't live stateside right now. Personally I live 40 miles of mountainous road away from the closest Honda dealership so most of the local cars are Ford, Vauxhall (GM), Jaguar, Renault, Citroen etc.. so Hondas in general are very rare locally.

Now I just got back from a 700 mile drive across the country for a fishing trip and I was having a good look at most of the cars on the road. I only saw 2 civic 2-door coupes all weekend and they were stock.

I did however see about 4 Mk 4 escort XR3is, modded focuses, modded kas a Supra, 2 skylines etc..

Infact I saw 10 times as many Ferraris and Porsches as I did civics.

Maybe you guys should buy some European cars and mod them instead. They will definately be individual, but here they are common as muck and usually totally crap.

TonitrusEN 08-19-2002 10:18 AM

Give me a hatchback that looks as good as the 92-95 Civic does and ill be all for it...

Fact is, i like my body style, and i haven't found another company that MAKES a good hatchback...

I personally wouldn't buy another ford for the life of me, but thats because of bad experiences, so the Focus is out... and as for the punk kids that drive Hondas? I know of a few punk ass kids who drive rl's... and s2000's, and WRX's.... get my point?

Especially in Seattle, (alot of wealthy people where i live, im not one of them) these punk kids get there hands on these cars that they SHOULD NOT HAVE... so I bought what I liked, I'm not doing this to be cool, I'm doing this because I like it...

AzCivic 08-19-2002 11:48 AM

I just bought a Civic (it was my first car)cause Honda is synonymous with reliability, then a friend of mine later told me about little things you can do to make it faster and well now I'm where I am. Why get a what you can afford at all?? why not just save up for about 20 yrs and get some one of a kind car that NO ONE else has. If a car cost less than 50k everyone else is going to have one just like it no matter what, unless you get an older car and then there's still going to be a few just like you. Trying to be different just puts you in the trying to be different group, you're still in a group. But thats just my 2 cents.

Niacin 08-19-2002 12:42 PM

People buy Civics to mod because most people are sheep, bleating their ways through their lives spending $30k on a $10k car while trying to get nooky from 16 year old girls in car show parking lots. Baaaah.

Max

TonitrusEN 08-19-2002 12:58 PM

So since you drive a 98 TransAm, i can put you in the group of balding middle aged men trying to look younger?

Your an individual... just like everyone else

AzCivic 08-19-2002 01:56 PM

Niacin did you run the 13.3 with or without nitrous?

blind34_1 08-19-2002 09:04 PM

its true. There are too many kids doing stupid crap to low-end cars.
But why do I stop and look at a flashy civic in the parking lot of best buy? because its not some cavalier or sunfire that is boring and commonplace. In my city, modded cars are still interesting to look at. True some are just plain ricey, but others are quite nice and I respect them. These people are doing the best things to that class of car that can be done (some, not all). They can't stand up to camaros and stangs and shouldn't. They are in their own class.

As for flashy things I don't know. I'm doing it for me. I enjoy doing it and I think it looks cool. Sure the point is to have people say "damn thats a nice body kit" or "damn that car is low". Why do we want people to say this?...I dunno...anyone here a pysch major?

whatever, my .02

I've modified my car. Are you saying that we all modify our Hondas to pick up 16 year old chicks? Yeah that's a bunch of uh...what's the word I'm looking for? It begins with a B. Oh yeah, BULLSHIT. I am a girl. We do it because we like it. You're probably just player hating because some kid whooped your ass in his $10k car that he dropped 30k into. Dude, are you rocking a mullet with that car of yours?

richmclaren 08-25-2002 02:56 AM

I was in a good mood earlier, but reading this whole thread just pissed me off. The bottom line is, Why do people have to care so much about other people? I like what I like, and you like what you like. Sure, I'd want something different. If someone wanted to give me a Ferrari, I'd take it in a heartbeat. But maybe I can't afford a more expensive car than my Integra. And maybe my mom picked it out for me because of the reliability and I want to keep it. I really don't care if my car looks like a million other cars. And to the guy who started this whole thing: I know you want to be different, but frankly, I really could care less about what car you drive. Or anyone else's for that matter. (No offense.) I respect your opinions, but people like you need to realize that others are entitled to their own opinions, too. And they don't need you to shit on their interests.

cstrom80 08-25-2002 08:17 AM

Personally, I agree with RichMclaren. Maybe not to his extent but I do agree. Do what you want. Do what you like. If it makes you happy, why not? A lot of people are happy with their Civics; with their low-class cars. If someone's got an Echo and they love it, who are you to bring them down? I see where you are coming from mountain biker and I respect your opinion. I'm glad you are happy being different but I don't look at it as same or different. I just see my car as mine.

ebpda9 08-25-2002 10:12 AM

i agree there are too many civics on the road but let's face it: not only the 16yr old punks drive it. i seen a lot of grammas that are looking between the steering wheel and the dash to the road. in cleveland focus takes the cake for modding. there are so many of them. I'm not saying that we don't have any modded civics. and the moded part comes from standing out of the crowd of civics. if i would have a civic i wouldn't want to be associated with a gramma. what people need to realize is that an intake and some rims don't make your civic a porche.

Addict 08-25-2002 04:31 PM

Its not always about "what you like & what I like". Its about attitude too. The few that have bad attitudes or act like asses make everyone else look bad.

mt.biker 08-25-2002 09:38 PM

before most people were into hondas i loved them and i'll love hondas until the day i die. Honda makes the nicest line of cars hands down (acura included when i say honda)!

I'm not saying you should go sell your cars and buy something different but i'm wondering why everyone turns to hondas? You know you can get more car for the money second hand. Is it all because of the mods?

Guys 90% of civic drivers must make the 10% look bad. To be honest i have yet to meet someone who seems nice and has a riced out car. They all have a "small dick" complect and want to race your car to show you up. well i'm sorry to brake it to them but the likely hood they are gonna hand me my ass in their '92 riced ex is just not likely.

I guess the reason i posted this was because i think to many people jump on the band wangon with hondas, i kind of liked it when less people drove em, that way they were most special.

Everyone strives to be drifferent by taking the same path!

ChrisCantSkate 08-25-2002 10:40 PM

ricerd out by meaning badly done? true.. riced out body kit and shit done right, i have a few friends that have thier cars done right. i agree, when i first got my first prelude, almost 3 years ago, there were no imports around. everyone drove SUV's or just non-hooked up cars. now, i feel like a moron sometimes from the image i get. i drive a prelude, its a little bit hihger class than a civic or teg, but its still a honda at heart, which is good and bad. i still get this "rice boy" image cast upon me, and at the same time i still have the honda quality. i dunno if honda is the BEST car manufactuer, but they are very good. i have a few sugestions i'd give them to make their cars better, but overall they are very good quality considering their compeditors.

cstrom80 08-25-2002 10:57 PM

I feel a bond. Cheers everyone!

richmclaren 08-26-2002 09:33 PM

I didn't mean to come off sounding like an ass or anything, just so you know. Also, I do agree with civic_addict about the whole attitude thing. I've seen plenty of people who will race anyone in their scant horsepower civics. (My ex, for example, and that's why we don't date anymore.) I, however, have a completely stock engine and don't do that because there's really no point. I just want to make my car look nice. I don't see anything wrong with that.

On a side note, I am a "she" and not a "he." (Someone confused this in an earlier posting.) I suppose the user name is a bit misleading, though, and I might as well explain:
My best friend and I once found a website called opendiary.com where it was exactly that: an online open diary. We realized that most of the writers were pre-pubescent little girls who had nothing to talk about but how their "crush" looked so "cute" that day. We decided to make up a person and start a diary. "McLaren" came from a picture of a mclaren f1 I had on the desk and "Rich" was an arbitrary first name. Our diary turned out to be a big hit with all those girls who thought "Rich" was "really cool" and "really hot." Eventually we quit writing in it because of the disturbing emails we got (yes, we started up a hotmail account as well) from those girls who wanted to date "Rich." I figured I already had the email address so I just used it.

We thought it was funny. But maybe you just had to be there...

Kyle 08-26-2002 09:54 PM

lol, nice story.

No crush... was just kidding about it after RichMclaren was talking about it in the other post.

msvtec14 08-28-2002 08:27 AM

I don't know. I just hate these little @ssholes that drive around and think they're total bad@sses because they have some tip on their muffler that makes a loud obnoxious sound. Half the time those sound like crap. My brother makes fun of them and calls them fartpipe exhausts. I call them coffee can exhausts. Where I'm from there's this group of kids and they pretty much all have civics. There's barely anything even done to them. They really think that they are the sh*t. I was at 7-11 the other day and some of them were in there. I pulled into a space totally away from them and I come out and there's 3 of them just surrounding my car. Maybe because I have a Honda, I'm supposed to associate with them...? I don't know. In normal circumstances, I more than happy to talk with people about their cars. But these kids are just punks that make the rest of us look bad. I got in my car and went to the car wash. About an hour later they showed up there too and they just kept driving around the car wash reving their engines. It was really annoying but somewhat entertaining. I know my car doesn't have that much done to it and I'm not going to try and drive it around and show it off like it does. :bandit:

monkut 09-02-2002 09:41 PM

personally i hate when something i like becomes really big because i know everybody is eventually going to turn on it and say "that was just a fad, get over it." not only modding civics but other things. for example the jdm scence (that term is thrown around too loosely, but thats another topic). anyways, lately its been getting big, which is bad for those of us who have understood it since its infancy, because, well see my first statement. same thing happened with break dancing. as soon as it became a big thing and was featured in movies everybody turned their backs on it and said "that was soo 80's" and if you're one of the loyalists you get bashed cuz you're still doing it.

richmclaren 09-03-2002 07:27 PM

I totally agree with monkut. I can ignore people up to a certain degree, but I still don't want to hear them giving me sh*t about it all the time. We can only hope that car mods will be so "out" that they'll be cheaper due to less demand and that people will stop saying they're so "jdm" when they don't even know what that means.

fertooos 08-14-2020 07:53 AM

Probably only a lazy person who has an Internet and a smartphone in 2019 has not heard of the existence of cryptocurrency. There is a Cryptocurrency Blog out there now, one of my favorites is Blog.Switchere.com. They are trying to structure knowledge in the subject of cryptocurrencies and, perhaps, in this kind of monologue - structuring, they will at the same time be able to answer the questions of people whose knowledge about the crypt ends at the moment CRYPT = BITCOIN = Bullshit = Forex = Network Marketing = [think up something- the dumbest thing that scares you and insert here]. lol

Straight answer? YES! You are the only one.

Let’s talk about online betting. I am only studying how the whole system works, but I have already seen many warnings to carefully select the bookmaker. Reading numerous reviews, I have noticed the most positive feedback on irish bookmakers https://online-bookmakers.com/en/. So I think I will start with this option to test my skills. If everything fine, I will widen my selection.
