I'm gonna put some Motegi MR7's on my sol. I can't decide if the 18's are gonna rub anything or stick out. The sizes are 17x7 with a 40mm offset, and 18x7.5 with 45mm offset. Tell me which are the best for my sol.

Most Auto Parts stores may car a rim sizing kit to make sure the size rim and tire you,ll by futs your car, it measures eveything from how tall your tire is to the offset, I suggest you get a used 17" & 18" tire, the kit requires that you have a tire, just mount the tire to the gauge and mount it to your car, and adjust as neccesary, good luck

omfg...dont put 18s on a sol...or ANYTHING that isnt a big ass car

16" will be just fine...trust me...18 is HUGE

...plus it will weigh so much you'll be going slower than you already are...

My sol isn't gonna be a race car, it's gonna be show. I'm thinkin that if I go ahead and buy the 18's, i won't have to go bigger later. Bigger looks better in shows, right?

18s on a sol at 7.5 won't shouldn't be able to tuck. If your going to do 18s you gotta do air. But 17s it what I would go for man. 17x7 that way it would look good and not gaughty being so big, (especially on a little del sol), and 7 is easier to tuck. Good luck with whatever you decide. What color is the del sol if I may ask?

I've seen 19's on a sol at a show....do whatcha want.
Go for the 18's if it's going to be a strictly show car.

I've heard of people with 18s on sols before, but it took some work. And that's what it all boils down too. If you want 19s on your car, you can do enough work to make them fit. Same with 18s. If you want to be lazy, or just don't have the resources to do any adjusting, stick with 17s. 17s are big enough, trust me. Plus, remember that the bigger wheels you get, the higher off the ground your car is. And in the show environment, lower is better. Its a compromise, you just have to decide what you want.

Do the 18s, it looks good. I have a 93 del sol with Matrix coil overs cranked all the way down, and 18" Enkeis, I love it. It rubs a little when turning real hard, and rubs when turning on a big incline, but it is not back, nothing bent and nothing hurt, just a little rub mark.


I say do what you want, but 18s look good on a del sol.

It's stock white.



Exactly how much work (other than springs and shocks) am i gonna have to do to put on 18's??



Can you post a picture of your sol, and what's the offset on those enekies??

I am not sure what the offset is. I got the wheels through Car Toys in Tulsa Oklahoma. They would know.

The suspension is pretty stiff, I have strut bars and all that good stuff, I am gonna say it dosent bottom out, but It doesn't move much either. It is not a bad ride, a little ruff, but not as bad as some I have seen. It doesn't bouce all over the place. I like it, and doubt I will change anything about the ride, adn the handleing is awesome with the 18s. A lot of difference between those and the stock 13s... ol

18's on a sol looks like a cartoon car. They are far too big for the size of the sol. Go with 17's or smaller. You will get looks and performance out of 17's. Besides, good luck fitting 18x7.5s on a sol without some fender rolling and wheel well modifications. That is unless you are going to ride at 4x4 height.

Actually I did not have to modify anything on my 93 sol to put on the 18s. It still has the plastic inner wheel wells, I didnt have to roll any fenders, and it is down as low as I can get it with the Matrix coil-overs, and sits about 3"- 4" off the ground. I have had no problems, in fact it tucks a little in the back maybe like 1/8", and doesn't tuck in the front. Everyone seems to like the 18s on it, I have never heard anyone say anything bad, other then they weigh too much. But I put the stocks back on the front when I race so it is all good.

Well, thanks for all the help in my deciscion. I think I'll go with the 17's. Now after I put them on i'm gonna lower it. I'm gonna put on a tokico coilover kit. Is there anything else I'd need?

I would put strut bars on it, that made quite a bit of difference in the handleing...

If you are going to really drop the car get a camber kit as well. The lower you go with your car the more wacked out the camber is going to be and the more adjustment it's going to take to correct it. Some strut bars and sway bars and you will feel like you are driving on rails.

mine blew in less than 6months on normal driving at a 1.5" drop (never adjusted lower than that) and at level 3 stiffness (right in the middle)

Damn. Glad I haven't gotten shocks yet. I wonder if yours were a special case, or if they all are that bad. Oh well, looks like I'll be shelling out the money for Koni Yellows then.

its smart to spend more money for a better product...the koni's have lifetime warranty

Well, that's all I really needed to hear. A warranty can make a huge difference. Especially on car parts. And even more especially with the kind of drop I want to ride with.

yeah koni has some of the best shocks and the lifetime warranty. also the ground control has a lifetime warranty and they don't care if u race the car or not because their coilovers are made for racing :yes: pm me for prices on konis.

I just put some NEX coilovers on my car, they are sweet. I got em as a special promo deal for 500$, they are zinc plated with blue springs. The spring has a height adjustment as well as the shock body. It's pretty dope, you can turn the spring all the way down, and if that isn't low enough you can turn the shock body down about another two inches. 0-6" of adjustment.

And the car handles like a dream.
