reputable jdm headlights?

what manufacturer makes some good jdm-style headlights for an affordable price? i'm having problems with the headlights i have now fogging up REALLY bad and i wanna go back to the jdm look. any suggestions?

noone makes good ones, they are all ugly black housing headlights.

get the real thing or just paint your stockers....hell ill paint your stockers for you if you arent up to it.

here are a couple ive done for reference:

i don't think i have my stock ones anymore... then what??

slowEJ6 10-23-2005 01:19 AM

pick up some stockers that you can paint or buy the real deal CTR lenses.

jdm style headlights just arent even remotely the same as the jdm counterpart they are intended to replicate. not to mention horrible quality.

wheresmylicense 10-23-2005 03:49 AM

too bad ctrs are so expensive....

JDMFantasy2k 10-23-2005 01:11 PM

it's worth it, just save up and until then maybe pick up some from the boneyard. Passwordjdm.com man, there is no substitute

wheresmylicense 10-23-2005 03:52 PM

is the wiring harness necessary? do they not just plug into what's already there?

pdiggitydogg 10-24-2005 03:53 PM

no harness is necessary
if you end up shelling out for units w/ city lights, you just need a socket (dealership sells them or just pull them from any civic's license plate lights from a junk yard, prelude city socket, s2000 sidemarker socket - theyre all the same). After that, stop at the hardware store and pick up a box of female spade clips and use those instead of paying $20 for a silly harness
As for the regular bulbs, no, you dont need to do anything - the standard h4 bulbs go in fine

wheresmylicense 10-24-2005 06:56 PM

and city lights are pretty much just side markers?

pdiggitydogg 10-24-2005 07:27 PM

no, theyre just the same socket

wheresmylicense 10-25-2005 10:08 PM

what are city lights, then?

pdiggitydogg 10-25-2005 11:19 PM

honestly, I dont want to describe what theyre for again, so just search (i know that sounds mean)

wheresmylicense 10-26-2005 05:28 PM

ok, well more or less i figured out what they are... don't really understand what they're for... but nonetheless...

my question now is, how stupid would it look if you just didn't put them in? REALLY stupid?

JDMFantasy2k 10-26-2005 06:34 PM

don't be a dousche, put them in. I think you can buy the sockets from passwordjdm.com also, otherwise go searching. They just look sick, trust me. But i believe the actual purpose is so people can see your car in dusk conditions without you having to have your headlights on. I love mine and use them all the time.

sicones 10-26-2005 08:11 PM

can you install city lights in the stock headlights, I think you would have to drill a hole and custom mount one of those wedge bulb style sockets right???

JDMFantasy2k 10-26-2005 08:34 PM

on the back of the housing there's a circular area where the city lights are located on the JDM ones, however you'd have to drill through the reflector housing also, and that would probably fuck it up.
