What CRX model?

I'm a Teg owner but plan on buyin a CRX in the next month or so. This might have been already asked but I didn't find anything on it. What model should I look for and any particular year? I don't plan on modding it a ton right away. It'll be a daily driver. Any advice would be great...thanx

an si, multipoint fuel injection, they are the best of the crx's and when its time to swap you dont run into alot of problems. and for year... they are already an old car, just find one thats in decent shape.

fudgsicleflo 11-22-2002 02:39 PM

yeah, i'd say stick with a nice clean one with low miles, etc. or one that was well taken care of. ^_^

my dream crx: 1991 CRX Si, black, with fewer dents rust and paint problems.

But pretty much take any 88-91 Si you can find. DX is the step below that. And HF is the worst, performance wise. I think there is also a STD version but thats pretty close to DX anyway i think.

But isn't the HF the lightest model of the bunch and anyways the si comes with power steering,ac and it's alittle heavier so that just takes HP away.Well if you swap a b16 just get a harness from hasport to convert from dual to multipoint it makes your job easier.Way pay 1000 or more for an si.

Well, he doesn't plan on modding it right away. Prolly would like it to move marginally faster than a senile snail racing for tapioca pudding. Plus the si has a sunroof.

:bandit:

are you sure it comes with power steering? i've never seen that on older civics/crxs. Anyway, I'd say try and stick with the 1991 Si's, but any year would be fine. You going to have the inherent problems of older cars anyway (suspension is gone, brakes are crap, clutch going out, etc.) unless it was actually taken care of.

KwikR6 12-16-2002 02:28 PM

1991 Si
that's about it

racerus 12-16-2002 11:26 PM

Yup I seen some with power steering.Well the SI is cool but the prices are not.So if you want to pay $1000 or more then that's up to you.

Right on. It's hard as heck tryin to find one that you don't have to put almost a thousand bucks and a week fixin it up.

My sol is almost paid off so I've been lookin for another honda to spend money on. I've been checkin out the area and have found a good number of very nice lookin crx's from various years with b16 swaps already for around 3-4000. So if you have the cash check some of the ones that already have most of the work done. lol Saves ya time.

a96710 12-17-2002 10:13 PM

That's true...all the ones I've seen are all ready modded

blind34_1 12-17-2002 11:23 PM

yeah but already modded ones are no fun. If I could find a CRX with a b16 swap already done and everything else bone stock that would be awesome, but you'll never see it. If you do, buy that sucker.

crxb16hybrid 12-23-2002 03:58 PM

Hf or Dx if you are planning on trying to add hp down the road

diligent_dave 12-23-2002 08:28 PM

I still like the bling factor of the si's sunroof. ;)

foxygrandma 12-30-2002 06:26 PM

any year si is good. the only problem with one older than 91 is rear disc brakes. you can easily swap the rear discs if you want. i did. the only crx that came with power steering was a JDM crx. if you are making a nice driving fast car the si is a good choice, but if you want a full on race car the hf is the way to go. the hf is the lightest of the crx's being designed for light weight and fuel economy. an si will make a swap easier.

b16acrx 01-22-2003 07:18 PM

go with the SI.

AndrewGTR86 01-25-2003 09:50 PM

I would try lookin for a 88-91
