power lineman apprenticeship

have you guys had any experience with this or even heard of it? i guess its working on big transormers and power line transmissions both overhead and underground. i have the possibility of starting an apprenticeship in it...but i just want some more input..thanks

my uncle is a lineman, he seems pretty content with it

Not my thing...I'd do something stupid and kill myself within my first 15 minutes on the job. But hey...if you think you're up to it I say go for it.

yeah i dunno if the whole hieghts thing and working in all weather conditions would be very attractive

Heights aren't my problem...but working outdoors through a Canadian winter wouldn't be my first choice. That...and me and electricity haven't always gotten along well.:paranoid:

sub-zero temps might not be your thing but Im sure you are handsomely rewarded for the trouble

^ that is a very confusing post to interpret!!

Mischief 10-06-2005 09:23 PM

Let's just put it this way.. A bad storm during the winter hits a part where you'd have to stay in a hotel overnight for a weekend or so somewhere else.. You're paid for the entire time you're there

^Even though you're gonna be working your ass off cold weather, your paychecks will look bangin'.
