clocking

I just wanted to know when you clock the turbo you are only turning the comp housing side right?I did that to a point to where it could reach my hotpipe but I need to turn the center section aliitle bit so it would be easier for the oil and coolant lines to reach I just wanted to know how would you turn the center section, I just don't want to fuck it up.Any advise would be great

yeah you can clock both sides, and is usually a good idea to do so that way the oil outlet is facing straight down, depending on the manifold you're using.

Just remember when you're clocking loosen the bolts a little and turn slow. There's a gasket (on t3's anyway) between the backing plate and the comp housing and you don't want to wreck it. The turbine side you don't have to worry about except make sure you torque the bolts in sequence so the turbine wheel sits level in the housing. Spin the comp wheel by hand afterward just to be sure nothing is rubbing.

it has 6 bolts to hold the housing, and a big snap ring also on the cold side. so do i just take the snap ring off and loosen the bolts on each side to turn the center?

You shouldnt have to take the snap ring off. The snap ring should be for the inner housing.... but then again, it just depends on what turbo
