Progressive

Quite a while ago a guy at the part store was talking to me about a progressive nitrous system.

Has anybody every heard of that or had experience.

its something that increases the amount of nitrous/fuel being sprayed by limiting the amount at first then progressively allowing more and more tell it reaches the limit set by the nitrous/fuel jets. good for big shots so you don't lose traction and its easier on the engine. for small shots, not really worth the money.

So you're say 100 shot or bigger on a 4 banger.

Most systems aren't dependant on the size, but a bigger shot certainly means it's more important to gradually increase the shot. I'd say a progressive system is something you should only consider after you try out a given system. If you've upgraded parts in anticipation of nitrous, a progressive controller probably isn't necessary. If you're mostly stock and plan on running a 75-100hp shot or bigger, it might be something to consider to lessen the shock to your motor and drivetrain.

Not shure which way to go though Turbo with small nitros or just a large shot of nitrous.

I have all winter and part of the spring to decide. Cause it starting to get stinking cold.

it all depends on what you wanna do with the car: if you drag it a lot then nitrous is the way to go, if you do autocross it a lot then go with a turbo

i was thinking supercharger for autocross since with turbo you get lag whe your coming off the gas then having to try and punch it again. turbos are more a drag car application i thought

AzCivic 10-18-2005 09:25 AM

a small turbo doesn't have much lag.

true

The car is just for fun driving on the street. Not to race just for me...

I like to feel the accelleration.

Oh and it will be used on the drag strip once and awhile as well as I might do slalom racing, but that doesn't really require power.

Still have to think a little more.

a nitrous express wet kit would be perfect I'd think. if you wanna spray 60-75hp "shot" I'd recommend a MSD digital 6 to retard timing, also spark plugs that are a heat range "colder" would be a good idea also. Less than that should be ok w/ stock timing and regular OEM non platinum plugs.
