Finished installing new parts yesterday... Tested em last night...WOW!!!

What a difference!!!

I dropped in a set of Crane cams w/ 35 degrees over stock duration, APE adjustable sprockets, & a set of Ferrea valve springs. Things I blew 3/4 of my savings on for MY Christmas presants hehe ;)

I did a bunch of test runs yesterday w/ different advance & retard, and about 10 degrees or so advance on both cams seems to feel the best right now. When I took off to work last night, the throttle response seems alot better, it definitly pulls harder, and it seems like it growls more. The only thing I can't get rid of is a lumpy idle, and a small flat spot from about 1600-1900 revs.

Now I gotta see if there's a Dyno around here to see how much I'v lost or gained.

that is cool...glad to hear the work and new mods are worth the $ you spent. I would say if you are goin to dyno the ride go ahead andhave them tune the mods so you get eh full HP available from them.

thanks for sharing.... ;)

When you get it Dynod let us know the results.. What motor did you mod?

Trixta6 01-02-2002 01:02 PM

Yeah, when I do find a Dyno that pretty cheap I'm plannin on spending the cash to have em properly tune everything and see if they can get rid of that lumpy idle.

As far as what model motor it is, all I know is that it's a stock Canadian spec 1.6L DOHC.

Where do I find the engine # anyway?

I was just wandering if it was a SOHC or DOHC.. Do you have an SIR?

Did you swap in a different motor?

Trixta6 01-02-2002 01:15 PM

Nope... That's the way I bought it.

Shouldnt a Canadian LX only have a D15 in it? If you look on the block It maybe stamped on it, if its a DOHC itll probably say B16(??)...

Trixta6 01-02-2002 01:21 PM

Where on the block should the # be? Is it cast or stamped?

Racing Rice 01-02-2002 01:23 PM

cast into it.. Im not sure where on the block it is.

Trixta6 01-02-2002 01:25 PM

I'll go out in a bit & take a look around in the engine compartment & post back later.

vtecfetish 01-02-2002 10:21 PM

your location says that you're in Cali? so maybe your LX already has a swap when you bought it, a B16 maybe? otherwise that's a SOHC.

Its near the front left on the B16's..... Right by the VIN if it still has one on it.

Trixta6 01-03-2002 10:44 AM

Yup... It's a B16 & it was on the front left side. It was also on the bottom near the left hand side of the oil pan.

vtecfetish: Nope... It's a DOHC. I changed the cams, gears & valve springs myself. The Valve cover kind of hints that its a DOHC too... Says it right on top

a Civic LX with a B16 motor swap already, you got me confused when you said it was a LX:cool:

Racing Rice 01-03-2002 12:14 PM

Cool.. You got lucky when you bought that LX then... Cause the B16 is a lot more powerful then the D15 that was in it..

KwikR6 01-03-2002 06:10 PM

no kidding you did get lucky. my civic has a d15 and it's weak.
i wanna put a b16b or a b18c5 in it

Trixta6 01-03-2002 08:52 PM

Yeah.. I guess I did luck out.

Here's what the engine # read :

HMC
18B7C
(insert Serial # Here)

Can you guys give me any info in this motor?
