whats the safest psi?
 

Im gonna drop a b18c into my 94 civic and i was wondering whats the safest level to boost to on a stock b18c?

none..

Acceptable would be 6-7.. ANd at least get some kind of engine management to maximize the gains.. but the more boost you use, the less your engine will last.

well, a b18c can hold plenty of boost. i suggest NOT going over 10 psi for the time being. stay within 6-8 psi providing stock ignition and basic fuel management. it's all about the tuning. what plans do u have on fuel and ignition management?

well im not gonna turbo the engine as soon as i get it, ill drive it around for a bit stock...what would you reccomend for upgrades...i was just gonna run around 8psi for awhile and then eventually build the engine up for more...

are you customizing your own turbo or getting a kit? the best one out there that i would recommend is the Revhard kit. upgrade wise, for fuel management, Hondata systems are very efficient. if you like full control of tuning your fuel setting and all other function, AEM makes a downloadable program on their unit. the problem with that is, there is really no way to find out if the car is properly tuned unlees it's on a dyno. on the ignition side of the house, hondata will also cover that. it sounds like i'm all about hondata systems, but there are other choices. i've heard great things about hondata systems and NO complains yet. while getting your car ready for a turbo set-up, i highly recommend that you get a cat-back system. the thermal R&D 3 inch system is probably the most common one. random tech makes a high flow cat also.

if you get a kit, stay with that set-up for a while until you start feeling the need for more boost. when you do, you will have to upgrade your fuel system. as i mentioned, hondata is great. other route to choose is the notorious "AFC HACK". i would recommend bigger injectors, 255 LPH in-tank fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and MSD 6BTM (unless you choose to have a hondata), MSD blaster coil, MSD pro-cap....on the ignition side.

BTW, a minimum of boost gauge and EGT or A/F ratio gauge is a must! get you an oil pressure gauge also, along with a turbo timer. peace
