Trouble with RCA's

okay here is my problem, every time i tap on my brakes my speakers would pop (like a clicking noise) i figured it would be my ground, checked it and its not that....after some researching and testing stuff, i found out it was this really old pair of RCAs we have had for quite some time (7 years). and i disconnected them and it seems it stopped but now since its winter, the front 2 speakers will still pop even though they dont work....could it be just static electricity since its so dry and cold??? help me out!!!

DemonicAccord 11-25-2001 01:27 PM

the fronts are disconnected?

DJZVTEC02 11-25-2001 03:01 PM

yeah the RCA cables that power the fronts are disconnected

DemonicAccord 11-25-2001 03:50 PM

but the SPEAKER cables are still running from the amp to the speaker?

DJZVTEC02 11-25-2001 03:51 PM

yes....

DemonicAccord 11-25-2001 03:56 PM

disconnect speaker cables from the speaker or amp, there you are, I am assuming the amp still recieves power which would be another ooption if its not a 4+way

DJZVTEC02 11-25-2001 03:58 PM

okay thanks....i forgot i shoulda done that before, DUH!!! oh yeah the amp is a 4 channel rockford (400a4) but i dont understand why my speakers are clicking when i tap my brakes??? this audio shit is about to become trash, thanks man....

Accord Man 11-25-2001 04:09 PM

ok so the rca's that give the signal for the fronts are disconnected.

but the speaker wire, from amp to front speakers are still connected.

Are we talking about a 2 or 4 channel amp?

& in what configuration are you running them?

Accord Man 11-25-2001 04:10 PM

So it's a 400a4..

From where are you getting the power for the amp?
And to what is the remote turn-on for the amp?

DJZVTEC02 11-25-2001 07:53 PM

power = battery
Remote Turn On = HU

that seems right...

Proper awg wiring?

Often , sudden voltage variations, cause funky behavior on certain amps.. But I doubt that the problem for your amp.. Being Rockford..

I've seen similar problems to this.. but I'd really like to know whats going on in your case.

DJZVTEC02 11-25-2001 09:32 PM

hahah wanna buy an amp? cause i am gonna throw it in the trash....lol

Whtehnda93DXSdn 11-26-2001 12:54 AM

DJ you get the issue resolved yet?

I thought you told me after I let you know about it that it was fixed???

Throw it in my trash can....::yes:: ::yes::

Accord Man 11-26-2001 10:07 AM

hehe

I've pretty much got all the audio stuff I need.

If possible, try hooking up another similar amp up.. with same wiring and all..

Just to see if it really was a prob with the amp..

In which case, it would deserve a dip i the trash can..
