My FIRST track experience...

Well I'm officially no longer a track virgin.

Tonight was the first time I have ever run my car at a track. I was nervous and excited. I had no clue what to do. But I stumbled through it. I also had no idea what times to expect or anything. But here's what I got.

16.13 without nitrous
And the horrible run
16.04 with nitrous

I was fairly happy with the first one, but I was shocked about the last one. But my reaction time sucks. 1.4! Ahh well I had fun and that's what it was about. Next time I'll know what to expect. I did beat an Integra GS without my nitrous though. He was a stick too. Guess he sucks worse than I do!

Anyhow, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the reaction time is. Is that how long it takes you to go when the light turns green? What can I do to help with this?

Does anyone know of an accurate HP calc? The one's I've seen say I'm pushing 168HP without the nitrous..... Maybe I've got the wrong weight.... The curb weight is 2552lbs + 165lbs(me) + 32lbs(gas) = 2749lbs

FYI - your reaction time means nothing towards your ET. Once the light goes green, you could sit there for 10 seconds and still pull a 16.08. The clock does not start ticking until your front tires pass the laser on the starting line.

In bracket racing, you will have your ass handed to you unless you get your reaction down to a better number, because you are still racing to see who gets to the end first without breaking out.

Damn. I was hoping for a better answer. ;)

It sucks that the track is so busy. I don't really get to practice. Only got two runs in for the 3 hours I was there. I didn't flip the switch until about 30-35 MPH. Which apparently was too late. I just didn't want to spin my wheels at the start.

16.04 w/ the bottle. I think 15's are in your near future. Maybe a better start off the line and you'd be there. Keep working on it and I'm sure you'll get there.

Dude you should hit 15s with ease. All you need is a little more experience. Most tracks have a Wednesday night test and tune and I know around here it is almost dead. You can almost get back in line and run immediatly if you wanted to.
