More Q's from D!

Anyways, back to my rims/tire questions.
Pardon my stupidity but I'm learning hehe.
Anyways, say if I want to get rims and tires used.
Like buy the whole set off someone who wants to get rid of his/her old ones. If the tires are already on the rims, meaning they fit fine, will they fit fine on my car. Right now I have 15's, so say I buy used 17's, can I just buy ANY used 17's with low profiles?

well not necesarily. you need to know what the stock size of the tire is ( not only 15") but also the width and aspect ratio of the tire. if u can get them for me i will be able to tell you what the size of the new tires should be.

ok.
will do!

Right, and make sure they're an acceptable offset, correct bolt patten/radius and an acceptable width for your car.

Ditto.

Don't forget about the lug pattern.

P195/60/R15

I believe there are 5 lugs.

you could use some 205/45/17 or 215/40/17

juvenile 10-31-2002 11:30 AM

Would that be low profiles?

ebpda9 10-31-2002 01:42 PM

yup, but the sidewall will be like 2.5" it's better that way. it protects your rims and suspension better

you can even go with 215/45's or 205/40s but your speedo will be SLIGHTLY off, theres a site somewhere, that has a flash interactive thing where you put in stock tire size, and it shows you everything

and the site is here ->>> http://www.2k1civic.com/stuff/tire_calc.cfm

yup, thats the thing, it wa stolen off miata.net though.. thats where i saw it. my speedo is 1.3937xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx% too slow

ebpda9 10-31-2002 04:04 PM

i like bigger tires. they tend to close a bit of the gap between the wheel and the fender, plus as i said before having 215/45/17 will provide more cusion for the rims and a better ride comfort

juvenile 10-31-2002 10:07 PM

cool.
Well, now it's time to get a job to afford some nice rims
