random civic questions

So how much of a difference does CAI make on like say, a 97 civic anyway? I know that people say that these are awesome and increase hp and tq and gas milage and make the car do backflips and whatnot, but does it really help that much? The problem with asking people around here is they are just plain dumb. They take what they read in a magazine and exaggerate it and then act as though they are a professional know it all. WTF ever. You guys are smart and tend to be more down to earth. What mods are really worth doing?

When I put a I\H\E on my civic it was barely noticable. It may have pulled a little harder on the top end, but not enough to really make you feel good about all of the money you just spent. If I was going to do it again, I'd just save for a turbo setup or something.

yea those parts are not big gainers on a stock D16.

Heh!

Right there, you know it's a lie... :D

CAI, by definition, means MORE (cold ,dense) air will be taken into your engine, right?

MORE air requires MORE fuel! Thus, yes, you would get more HP & Torque, if the theory is correct, but gas mileage would HAVE to suffer as a result...

Either that, or you would be stumbling down the road with an overly lean mixture, which would mean less HP & Torque!

Sorry, but there's no free lunch here...
