FLAC files

so i got a bunch of audio files in FLAC format that i wana convert to mp3, but the first few converters i tried didnt work, anyone know howto get these to mp3, or at the very least wav files.

Hmmm...which programs have you tried to use to convert the files? I ask because I don't want to list a whole bunch of stuff off that you've already tried. Also, are you sure you have the right FLAC codecs? Without the codecs you'll probably run into problems with conversions unless the programs have built in codecs (which isn't all that common).

Come to think of it, what the hell kind of program were you using that saved files to FLAC as a default anyway?:D

flac = good stuff. think of flac as a zip file for a wav file. conversion is painless because there is no actual lossy encoding involved, just compression. Easiest way I know of is to uses the FLAC Frontend, add the flac files to the program, and hit decode. this will give you wav files. from there, use whatever mp3 encoding app you like (i prefer eac with lame 3.96.1.) Use nero to burn (you can use eac to burn also, i think)

just use winamp, with a flac codec. in my opinion FLAC sounds better than the normal mp3 anyway.

Well, FLAC will sound better than any compressed audio format. Audio data is not discarded in FLAC as with MP3, Vorbis, or any of the other lossy formats.

I used to use winamp until I spent some time with foobar2k. foobar is not very cool until you find a good modification for it. I don't even have a good one, but I got this one working and I'm sufficiently pleased. Screenshot attached for your viewing pleasure.
