Exhaust help?

I have a 1998 Accord 4-door 5-speed. I have an intake and all that right now so it sounds good as it is. I want to get an exhaust system though. But I'm picky...I don't want something that is really loud and annoying...my intake is cool, I have the AEM cold air intake so it's only loud when I get above 4,000 RPM's. I want the exhaust to be kind of the same. Only heard when I'm racing or just driving hard. Should I get just a muffler tip or spend the extra money and get the whole system? And what is the best to get for my car? I've heard Mugen is really good. Any suggestions?

A muffler or axle back will do you ZERO good in the performance department. Invest in a cat-back.

The Mugen is definitely a nice piece, but the gains are only optimal in the top end. Also stay away from Tanabe- they have a bottle neck 3 inches long less than 2.25" in diameter.

From a sound standpoint, I would look at either the GReddy SP or the Apex'i with a silencer.

Unless you'll be adding any forced induction or major motor upgrades, considering hp gains on an exhaust is kinda silly. But yes, there will be gains.. :paranoid:

For a sweet sound, replace the piping from the front to the back with 2.25-2.5 inch. And finish off with a Remus or Brullen muffler.

(I'm getting mine, this week..;))
