speaker cable question

so on my recording computer i have 1/4inch inputs/outputs on the sound card and thats how i have to hook the speakers up to it. now as it sits i have the 1/4 -> 3.5mm adapter and am running a set of computer speakers on it. problem is the jacks on the computer are left and right and do not send a stereo signal therefor one of my speakers plays no sound. deffinitally a pain in my ass.

ok enough background, my problem, or question i guess is i have a set of home audio speakers im not using, is it as simple as going to radio shack and buying a couple of 1/4 jacks and having one end open to hook the speakers to? the speakers have the standard red/black 2 wire hookup you would connect bare wires to.

also is there a 1/4 left and right to rca left and right? i may run the computer through my home stereo.

i tried searching for somehting similar but couldn't find shit anywhere, figure one of you guys might have a clue

1/4" ---> RCA can be found here: http://www.audiogear.com/Audio-Adapters-RCA-Plugs.html or here: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/307416.html . Just google that shit under '1/4" RCA adapter'.

As for hooking up your home speakers...that's a bit tougher. I'd say it's definitely worth a try. Just get some plug end from Radio Shack and give it a shot. You might not get good level out of it, though. I don't know what kind of output strength sound cards have so I don't know if it's be enough to give the speakers enough power. Worse comes to worse you could send the PC signal to a receiver and then hook your speakers up to that. It's give you much better connectivity options, too.

i might do 1/4 inch to rca to my home theater since that has the power to push these speakers and i dont know how my card will do. im just so sick of not having stereo sound, or properly mixed bass/treble (the computer speakers have a subwoofer on em that isnt taking the signal right due to the 1/4 mono jack they are coming from
