ok...wft...
Ok, I have this really annoying sound coming from my front left suspension. Its a creaking, squeeking sound that happens when I roll over bumps...or just itty bitty dips in the pavement (even slopes)
I can hear it when I coast through the neighborhood @ less than 10mph...but Im sure it happens all the time (just cant hear it over the road noise, exhaust, radio, etc etc etc). No, Im not slammed (koni yellows and h&r sports) Yes, the suspension is pretty new (only months old) Yes, I re-installed the dust sleeves (and every other part is on there too) The tokicos did this too...only on the right side (no i didnt swap parts when exchanging suspension, or move parts from the right side to the left) help...its annoying and embarassing |
take off the bushings and grease them. if u really want to avoid that throw some water on top of the strut tower
another gheto fix a la stefan ;) |
thought of that right after post...
...and tried the water thing |
didn't it work out ? at least for a few minutes ? do u have poly bushings ?
|
didnt work at all
the tower bushings? Theyre the ones that koni supplied...I bet theyre poly arent they (I really dont remember) |
no, not those. where the end of the shock gets into the engine bay did yours come with bushings ? i know mine didn't because i still have the es red ones
|
part 6? |
heh yeah wet those. i have mine in red because they were the only ones availble at the time i ordered them.
|
been there done that
|
if its like a knocking it might be the strut mount cause mine did that whenever i would go over a bump. I dunno just my mindless posting
|
ok update on this problem:
took everything apart...everything...down to individual pieces. Put it all back together and bumping it each time to simulate a bump in the road. Siliconed the washers onto the bumpstop and the one on top of the dust shield (who knew...maybe that was it). Extended the fat rubber washers (part 6 above) to press down more on washer 8 as well. Used mucho Lithium grease on the rubber washers too (part 6 again). Put it all back together and test drove it...I didnt fix it...I was and still am extremely pissed If you have ANY suggestions let me know because its driving me nuts |
thought:
chassis flex maybe? (probably not...just a shot in the dark) |
Depending on your bushings.. polyurethane bushings always squeak, while polygraphite won't.. that's why I opt for the latter. No noise, same performance, a little less rigid so you don't break your ass when you hit bumps..
|
not bushings...ive checked all of them...
its getting to the point where i say "f*ck it" and take it in |
the ass?
haha So is it coming from the left front or rear? |
lol yeah the ass works for that i suppose
front left I'm pretty sure I'll check the left rear tomorrow night though...bolts and all |
did it start doing that after you put new brake pads in ? i know mine does the same thing and it's the brake pads that are moving around like bieatches. never never get IQ pads.
|
definately the front...i drove my whole route today w/o radio
you know...it might be the pads...there is a new slight metal rubbing metal sound It was suggested today that it may be the tie rods or steering linkage...maybe? edit**pads are sitting on the rotors at rest...bastards. Im making an apointment w/ honda on friday for an alignment and I'll have em check the pads out along with the rods and linkage. I dont care how much it costs at this point...$10000 would be fine as long as the sucker gets fixed |
just take the pads out man. who needs to stop ? we are all about speed aren't we ? ;)
|
haha yea :toofunny: :drunk:
|
well...no fix...(see my post in OT for the 411)
