Are Iridium plugs worth it?

I need new plugs and was thinking about getting Iridium plugs, but wanted to get some feelings on them first, are they really worth the money? So what are some thoughts?

I blew the elctrodes off of my Iridiums. Stick with NGK Platinum.

which iridiums were they?

NGK or Denzo or whatever..??

Big James 10-10-2001 11:42 AM

They were denso.

I had them for about 4 months, and the car started to run horrible. I yanked the plugs, and the electrodes were about half gone.

That sucks cause those plugs arent cheap..

BlazinCrx 10-12-2001 03:28 AM

Go with NGK v-powers, platniums, or iridiums...you are mostly likely going to get the best results from the platniums, all NGKs stuff is very good.

I had them and were not impressed at all. Now I run just the basic $1 Autolites and have had not one regret since.

Hell ya man. For any FI application, just the standard copper plugs work best. Platinum's/Iridiums are just a waste of money.

I have Denso Irridiums..

SLightly better I think.. For sure there is an improvement in throttle response.

Worth it if you ask me.. Especially if you got any FI or anything which raises compression.

That's probably why my car hesitates....

Racing Rice 11-02-2001 07:54 AM

Well I went ahead and just got the NGK V-power.. since thats what Id been using anyway.

Accord Man 11-02-2001 12:46 PM

Those are perfect..

You could have gotten plats, but if your engine is pretty stock, not worth it.

Thats what I figured.. Plus these should last me till I get a turbo then Ill have to get hotter plugs anyway.

Accord Man 11-02-2001 01:19 PM

So you have a turbo in mind? In less than 1 year...

Yeah, I cant wait to get it.. Im shooting for the Greddy kit but mid next year, hopefully sooner tho.. I think I can get enough money together buy then.. May just have to drop it on my CC, you know what I mean.;)

Accord Man 11-02-2001 04:49 PM

ok

I see!

;)

Racing Rice 11-04-2001 12:00 PM

check this out.. I took my old plugs out, and looked at them, they were actually colder plugs for a D15, Nopi sent me the wrong plugs when I ordered them last time. Well I put the hotter plugs for the D16 back in and it idles and sounds so much smooter..

Just thought Id share that.;)

DemonicAccord 11-13-2001 03:45 AM

unless you are forced, NGK or Denso base will do fine. $1.80 or so

thas alls I gotta say.
