Ideal Offset for 17in wheel
I have heard that a 43 was ideal for a 17in wheel. Any other suggestions as to what offset will work the best.

I agree..
Leaves you some room.. |
in a book i got it says 35, but i dont really know
|
35 just doesn't seem right for 17's. I will have to check on that. Thanks though
|
Pimp trust me 40+ is fine.
So 43 is perfect. 35 though, no way.. |

yeah... under 40 you will probably get some rubbing.. |
I've heard that 43 is the way to go but I wanted to get some input from the experts. Anyway, thanks.

i just got some 17 konig im not sure what the offset is though when i find out ill post it

43 will rub on your civic. 43 is fine for my accord and to some degree the newer ones, but a Civic will need a 35-38 offset, almost regardless of brand.

OFFSET
IVE GOE A CIVIC HATCH, I READ IN A MAG THAT OFFSET SHOULD BE BETWEEN 38 AND 43. WHEN I WENT TO GET MY WHEELS (TSW EVO BIG DEEP 17'S) THE DEALERS GUIDE BOOK SAID 35. WE TRIED IT AND IT RUBBED EVEN WHEN I RAISED IT WITH THE STOCK SUSPENSION. I NOW HAVE 40 OFFSET AND ITS FINE EVEN DROPPED 1.75 INCES ON APEX SPRINGS
|
if you went with anything less than a +43 offset, you will rub. 35-38 will cause a hell of a lot or rub.

Word!
::yes:: :o |
mine was only a suggestion. different wheel mfrs measure differently. This phenomenon is no different than UTQG ratings. I also based my rec on 2 friends experience with BBS wheels on their Civics ('95 and a '98). As mentioned above, TSWs, but thats why I disclaimed that my rec rec was "almost regardless of brand"

No they don't. It's nothing like UTQG ratings...it's a standard measurement. What you may be seeing is that different widths require different offsets. This is where I would link you to the offset article I wrote, but that would link you up to "enemy" sites and we all know we can't have that... And yes, for a 17x7 on a civic ex you'll want between a +42 and +46. A 35 will rub all the time even if you don't lower, and a 40 will rub if you do and/or if you take hard turns or have a lot of weight in the car. So just try for 42-46. Hope that helps. |
hehe
you could link to whichever site you want.. As long as there is no porn/violence & other freaky ish.. ;) |
