CRX-ZC advice please

Hey guys! I'm fairly new to the board, but, I have an '89 CRX-Si that's gettin up there in the miles. I have a friend that can hook me up w/a ZC engine imported from Japan for only $450 plus whatever shipping is.
I was wondering if any of you have done this or seen this done. I've heard things come up about the brown seals vs. the black ones, & I know the black ones are better.
What I'm wondering is: Is it gonna be really hard to find little piddly parts that I might need like spark plugs or oil filters or little things like this.
I would probably go w/a bigger motor...maybe up to B16A, but I'm a spoiled brat and MUST have my A/C.
Help me out guys!!!
Thanx in advice.

I've seen a ZC in an 89 hatch. Works well and actually pulled pretty hard, at least enough to outrun lightly modded D series Civics without a problem.

Parts are not gonna be a problem- most of them are fully interchangable with the 86-89 Integra's parts (also a 1.6L DOHC non-VTEC).

Go for it!

Exactly!!!!
I have a friend that has a ZC in his 89 Civic hatch, another with a 90 CRX and I know a guy that just did one in his 89 CRX. They haven't had any problems with finding parts....they say it's easy as pie...and...your right 2ndgenteg they do pull pretty good...I was impressed needless to say.

GirlRacer 09-28-2002 01:02 PM

 Thanx men! ;)

ChrisCantSkate 09-30-2002 09:39 AM

yeah, i swaped one in my friends crx over the summer, there are plenty of avalible parts for it. i belive its also similar to the b18 nonvtec engine.

TonitrusEN 09-30-2002 10:15 AM

Yar my buddy has one in his 90 CRX, and it takes me :)

Though i guess since i have 200lbs of stereo equipment sitting on my rear axle.. a gremlin could take me :)

GirlRacer 09-30-2002 05:26 PM

:D I dunno bout a gremlin.... but thank you boyz ;) Your input is MUCH appreciated. How long did it take to get in there?

ChrisCantSkate 10-06-2002 03:04 PM

well... we didnt exactly work hard... it was 4 saturdays working from noon till 8 but we also went 4wheeling and dirt bike riding, its probobly 2 full days. we ran into harness problems though, thats what slowed us down one day

GirlRacer 10-06-2002 03:20 PM

?

Harness problems? How so?

ChrisCantSkate 10-06-2002 05:19 PM

we switched from duel point injection to multi point injection, the harness was only wired for 2 injectors, we had to hack apart a 91crx SI harness to get the parts we needed... the 88 and 91 have different main harness connectors to the ECU or we would have just swaped harnesses.

GirlRacer 10-07-2002 06:46 PM

 see, I see. ;)

crxb16hybrid 10-08-2002 02:27 PM

It should take some one with exsperience about 3 days and an amuture about 5. I did my swap with a b16 in about 4 days and I had no previous exsperience. SInce you have an SI you shouldnt have any problem with the harness......It should be like warm apple pie and just slide in.

GirlRacer 10-08-2002 05:48 PM

hehe

lol, thanx!

crxb16hybrid 10-09-2002 08:16 AM
