Something new to play with... ;)

I've finally given up on my Sony Xplod cd deck. It just skips too much. I'm going to buy 20civic01's Pioneer deck.
It's a DEH-P5200
and heres a pic.

looks good and reviews say its very good about not skipping.
my only draw back is my limited experience trying to adjust the eq failed miserably. once i get it installed and read the book (wow... actually read instructions  ) maybe it will come to me.

page for stats: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...29,518,00.html

whadaya think guys?

Nice deck Chris. That should be a good unit, my friend runs a similar one.

insomniac_91 04-09-2002 06:38 PM

ebpda9 04-09-2002 11:21 PM

yeah pioneer rocks. JVC sucks <--- any buyers ?)

Maxvla 04-09-2002 11:51 PM

i installed it tonight... its freakin rocks!
puts the sony xplod on the street corner.

i actually have deep bass in my xplod 6x9s!!

there's about 5 million menus so it takes a while to setup just right. i dont even hafta use a graphic equalizer anymore its so adjustable. best bucks ive spent in a while.

ive already found someone to buy my old sony... sucker! lol.

I had a problem with skipping until I recently bought the NEWEST Sony head unit (CDX-MP70). It has G- Protection which is Sony's anti skip protec. It rules, no skipping..what so ever. Now all I need is for Sony to get with the program and release thier XM reciever. Everyone else has one out (Pioneer, etc) except for Sony. I hear another month or so until release....I want it now!

yeah i agree that those pioneers can take a while to figure out. i had a deh 9300. it is one of the tops they make. but it was too flash for me. i actually thought the 9300 was easier to set than some of the lower ones though. they do have all kinds of mad controllability. no need for an external processor with some of em. but IMO too flashy.

Maxvla 04-16-2002 02:50 AM

still can't figure out how to set the darn clock! anyone know? 20civic01 doesnt have the book. lol.

black95gs-t 04-16-2002 03:00 AM

actually i figured out the clock on mine. but i have forgotten. when i finally figured it out i thought i was so stupid for not getting it quicker cuz it was really easy. its been a while but can you turn off all function except the clock? if so that might be where you set it

Maxvla 04-16-2002 03:03 AM

hmm... will try bright and early tomorra. probly the ONLY thing i haven't tried. lol.

black95gs-t 04-16-2002 03:08 AM

i know its somethin stupid like that. i had the same problem with my nak and also the pioneer. gets really annoying after about 2 days huh?

Maxvla 04-16-2002 03:09 AM

i gave up after i tried every button and button combination... that was about 4 days ago... lol.

black95gs-t 04-16-2002 03:19 AM

i was just looking at the link you posted that tells all about the radio. click on your link and go to the service and support button it is close to the top leftand it is a blue button. you have to make a login name for yourself, but then you can download the manual for that specific radio and i am sure that will help.

Maxvla 04-16-2002 03:20 AM

hmm.. nice find. checkin it out now...

Maxvla 04-16-2002 03:25 AM

the DEH-P5200 is like the only one they don't have one for... figures... lol. i'll check one similar though. should be the same.

black95gs-t 04-16-2002 03:27 AM

thats just unbelievable. leave it to me to recommend a site that won't work. lol

Maxvla 04-16-2002 09:30 PM

well i turned the unit off and started pushin' buttons... i ended up figuring if i push and hold the function button it has this whole other menu i hadn't even known about... including the clock adjustments. what a deal... lol.

black95gs-t 04-17-2002 11:46 PM

good deal

What don't you like about JVC? I've had my jvc head (kds840 or something?) for almost 4 years and it's been pretty reliable, and good sound for the $$.

i don't know but the bass is soo muffled. it sounds like it comes from a drain pipe. I have it paired with the stock accord front speakers and blaupunkts on the rear. i tried the Piuoneer DEH-225 i believe in my car and the sound is totally different.

black95gs-t 04-25-2002 01:03 PM

once apon a time i too was a victom of jvc. i had the 550 or somethin like that. the volume numbers went all the way up to like 60. the only problem was even with the bass and treble turned all the way down, you could not even recognize you music past 25. in addition, i went through 3 in 2 1/2 months before i started yellin at the circuit city manager and they gave me an alpine for the same price as the jvc. i was happy. $279 alpine for the price of the $179 jvc.

Maxvla 04-26-2002 12:43 AM

nice deal... they ended up payin you 100 bucks for damages... lol.

black95gs-t 04-26-2002 08:53 PM

well they only lost about 30 bucks really. cuz of markup.
