obd1 p75 - knock?

So I just realized that my ls block doesnt have a knock, being one of the original b18b's
The obd1 p75 doesnt check for knock does it? No biggie if it does, I'll just add a hole in the correct spot.

you gotta drill and tap??

pdiggitydogg 03-16-2006 09:52 PM

yep, theres a blank spot on the block where it should go

thermal 03-16-2006 10:57 PM

Some peope use one of the alternator bracket bolt holes (retapped)..... I think that is a better idea. I just dont see myself drilling into my block...

pdiggitydogg 03-17-2006 07:50 AM

the alt bracket holes?

thermal 03-17-2006 09:02 PM

yup........

pdiggitydogg 03-18-2006 10:49 PM

...interesting :hmmm:

i know for sure mine does not have a knock sensor. maybe you could use the oil temp switch.

thermal 03-19-2006 08:49 PM

Oil temp switch? You mean oil pressure sensor? What is he gonna do with the actual oil presseure sensor then? Knock sensor is just a tapped area on the block. It does not protrude the block at all. Pat, I'll se if I can get a picture of his set-up. I'm not even sure if he still has the motor.

ebpda9 03-19-2006 10:53 PM

the oil temp swithc is 3in towards the tranny side on the block. on the later 94-01 models it's just a huge plug.

thermal 03-20-2006 07:56 PM

hmmmm.... I've nevered paid attention to that.

Pat. my friend doesnt have the block with a modified knock sensor anymore, but I'm sure you can imagine how it would look like placing it on that spot where one of the alternator bracket bolt is.....

pdiggitydogg 03-20-2006 08:38 PM

yeah, I can figure it out alright
So we know for sure the p75 checks for knock?

thermal 03-21-2006 09:46 AM

According to Hondata, NO....
