crower stroker kit

im looking into going NA with my H22a LSD swap thats going to happen in augest.

while i have the motor out im thinking of doning a crower stroker kit. anyone seen a h22 done with this kit? anyone buy this? or think of this?

i hear it bores the H22 to 2.5L.

yeah im pretty sure its a 2.5 or 2.6 even. i dunno though, the rod stroke ratio is pretty good on a h22, i think theres a better way to spend the money in the motor to get more power, even all motor.

i was going NA, but i figured i get a stroker. just to see how much power a h22 can handle with it.

i remeber something about destroking it to a 2.0... dont remeber the details, i think it had a "safe" 9k redline and made real good power all the way through. im sure theres info about it somewhere.

edit:

i did some reading.. it you loose more low tq for the higher redline, basically turns it into a f20b motor. i think you can use s2k pistons and rods once you have the f20 crank if you went that route.

the 2.5 should break the 200tq mark without too much trouble, but remeber your gonna have a lower redline, so vtec controler and probobly a custom cam if thats not included, or already thought of.

yea, i knew i would need a cam, ill probably go with crower for that to.

i never thought of the vtec controller.

i'd rather bore out a honda motor than stroke it, both change the complex dynamics that honda has already figured out, but imo boring has a less dramatic impact.

boost and you're done

IALuder 05-02-2005 10:05 PM

but im leaning towards the NA route now. h22 is not boost friendly.

AzCivic 05-02-2005 10:17 PM

well if your gonna stroke out an h22 its going to be about as much to resleeve it and put in aftermarket rods/pistons, so it will be boost friendly if you spend the cash.

if i was gonna go n/a, i'd swap out the pistons to up the compression and get some good cams, and with the right bolt-ons should get you in the 200whp range pretty easily.

edit: oh wait i just saw that your getting the JDM h22 right? then hell you won't really need to up the compression.

IALuder 05-02-2005 10:22 PM

true, but have you seen what comes with their kit? after market piston rods so hell if i tell them what im planning maybe they can help custom them to be what i want.
