Does the Tornado Fuel Saver really work?

i was up late the other night when i came across this infomercial talking about this invention called the Tornado Fuel Saver. It supposedly adds horsepower and gas mileage to the car by placing this metal piece inside the intake.

Does this really work?
or is it just another gimmick

It is the general concensus that it is a big scam. If it added that much horsepower, AEM and the other big companies would have simply implemented it into their newer intakes IMHO.

well if that thing is covered by a patent no one can produce it without paying a big amount of moola

i remember seeing somewhere that a group of guys bought "tornados" and "electric superchargers" for dyno testing and actually lost horsepower. i guess their explanation was that the tornado and electric supercharger was actually restricting airflow!

actually on those tornado infomercials they've now resorted to "proving" that it increases horsepower by slapping a car on a dyno. the sad thing is nobody realizes that they dont have to be talking about the same car when they do the before and after.

no it doesn't work. and neither does the "electric supercharger"...

edelbrock makes something similar and it doesnt even work...I saw it on hillbilly HorsePower TV

They're a scam. Think about it, even if they get the air swirling in the main intake....how will it still be able to swirl after going through the trottle body? And worse yet, how is it going to end up swirling through each individual intake runner?

well said

yeah, but the gains are real. if you look at the first dyno they are using a stock intake, and on the second one they use the k&n typhoon intake. after all i guess the 20 extra hp can come from an intake:yes:

they are a scam for sure...I have heard more BD about them and the Electric superchargers over the last couple of yrs..As mentioned they have been installed and decreased the overall output from the engine.
Not to mention on the Dyno test an operator of the dyno can come out w/ almost any figure they want depending on what's programed in for the conditions setting..thats something else to remember.. bottomline though don't waster your hard earned $$...
