H22 = No handling?

someone told me in the 91 accords if u do a h22 swap ur cars handling will be...sh*t.....i said even with sway and strut bars? and they said yup doesn't do anything really..is this true? is it that bad?? theres one 91 with a h22 here and he said his car goes around turns bad......:paranoid:  :o

Maxvla 06-19-2002 07:59 PM

depends on the weight diff in the F22 and the H22 i would think they'd be close enough that upgraded suspension would take care of that.

someone more enlightened may know the exact weights. thats really the only difference that would affect handling.

Accord Man 06-19-2002 08:56 PM

thats BS.

in a civic you can tell the difference, but not in an Accord.

ShEaNy 06-19-2002 11:34 PM

k thanks i think i might just get the H22 ... for the low low price of a grand lol ohh i got the hook ups now....;)

94_AcCoRd_EX 06-20-2002 01:33 AM

$1k? Is it rebuilt? How much to install it?

ebpda9 06-20-2002 09:56 AM

hook a brotha up please. ;)

really i don't know if there is too much of a difference between the 2 engines, but the handling problems result from the accord being 250 lbs heavier in the front than in the rear. a sway bar should take care of that, and if u put adjustable shocks on your car even better. you are gonna be able to outperform exotic cars in handling:bow:

slowEJ6 06-25-2002 10:00 PM

whoever told you that was wrong.
upgrade the suspension is a must....stiffer spring rates in the front are a great idea. not due to any weight difference, due to a power difference.
in a 91 Accord though.....the weight difference between the F22A and the H22A is fairly noticeable, but not as much as with a civic.

as for the exact weights, im not sure.

ShEaNy 06-25-2002 11:51 PM

heh i wish i could hook up all the 91's out there...but that would take a LITTLE bit of time and shipping .... lol still havent talked to the guy ... he is avoiding me.....offered him 200 bucks just to tell his freind to get it for me .. then i pay his freind the grand.....200 for opening his mouth? wow he must be lazy not to do it....lol:D

ebpda9 06-26-2002 12:33 AM

ok i don't know if this is right or not but i checked carpoint with the prelude s and the vtec and they came up with a 350 lbs difference. i really don't know how right that is, but i'm sure the h22 isn't that much heavier than the f22

ChrisCantSkate 06-29-2002 03:29 PM

ABS not as heavy duty suspension stuff, non abs axles little stuff like that. and in 94 the frame got more ridged so if you checked a 92 S and a 94 vtec then you'd easly pick up 350 lbs. and ppl who swap out the f22 forma 92 and drop in a h22 dont notice any decrease in handling. and non of the accord ppl on my other boards have any problems with handlig once the h22 is in. its a direct bolt in and you'd just have to worry about wiring the p13 ecu to the car. thats gonna be your biggest problem (if it even is one)

ebpda9 07-03-2002 01:06 PM

so don't you get the whole harness from the ecu to the engine ? or you are gonna have to custom make one ? :paranoid:

ebpda9 07-03-2002 01:07 PM

yeah i think those were the years i checked 92 and 94

monkut 07-13-2002 07:06 PM

hybrid3doorcx: its not fair to say that whoever told him this is wrong. I don't doubt that his car may have responded poorly to the swap. However, i would agree in that most cases (in an accord) your not going to see much of a diff in handling. Of course thats coming from a guy driving a fith gen and i'm sure the 91 accord is lighter than mine.
but i really doubt that the h22 is 350 lbs heavier than the f22 considering they're both 2.2 liters.
i'm doing the swap too in my 94....i'm so excited i cant wait, but i must.

Where in Portland are you getting it done... or are you doing it yourself?

I know this is an old thread but i had a good giggle at this
What a load of crap he he he
From someone who has put a H22A in a accord by myself i noticed no diff in handling
Im even running stock engine mounts, Gas stut sussy, no sway bars so yeah not ideal and i noticed no diff except extra power, smokin the wheels in dry wether arround corners and stuff when i get a lead foot commin on he he

Its even AUTO he he
