a really anoying knock

i am really getting frusterated with this problem. anytime i change direction while moving slow i get a really bad knock. its a one time thing everytime i turn, stop, or go. i have been under the car pushing and pulling on everything. i have torqued everything. its not cv joints or lugnuts. it doesnt have anything to do with the engine. its also not my jack rolling around in the back. someone said that once. i feel it in the floor. i have never felt it in the steering wheel. it a 91 civic hatchback. any help would be greatly appretiated.

It sounds like a greasless cv joint with a busted boot. Since you said the cv joint was fine, check the boot. Good luck.

Maybe your exhaust system is shifting around and hitting the body or something. Mine is loose as a goose. The bolts are spring loaded and everything rides on rubber hangers, you know???

knock

I think all 4G civics have that noise... if it's under the dead pedal on the driver side don't worry about it almost all Civics have that. It could be your bushings, primarily the lower shock where it mounts to the control arm, Energy Sus or Prothane has kits for the car $120-150, highly doubt it but maybe one of your engine mounts is loose or the rubber is torn. Probably the bushings would be my guess.

Ya I agree with BlackDeuceCoupe. It could be your exhaust sys hitting your rear control arms. I just found out that was what was causing my rattle on my 5th gen HB. If yours is lowered a lot that is a good place to look.

Where does the sound come from?

If from the rear, BDC could be right.

If from the front, it could be a lot of things. One thing I would look at is your radius rods. I have found on a couple of cars where the radius rod come loos from the front crossmember. This would cause a clunk under braking, accleration and turning.

See the below diagram and ref part no 5 being the radius rod, and part number 21 being the suspect bolt.

That might actually solve my issue as well. My car makes a knock when I turn. Usually only when turn ing slow though. Rather odd.

as silly as it sounds try tightning the top of the shock where it bolts to the car. thats what my problem was. it started out only doing it sometimes when i turned slow then did it all the time. now that i did that it hasnt done it since.
