Law enforcement and tuning....

Does anyone ever get grief from the local law enforcement about mods/customization work done to their cars?

Has anyone experienced continueous harassment? Citations, and so forth?

I get a lot of grief from local law enforcement about my ride. I am just a bit curious if others get the same.

Not me, but my boyfriend drives a Type R with a lot of mods and he's always getting pulled over.
Then again, that could be because he's very well known with the local police....

Isn't that typical...

I feel for him.

What does he do?

Uberbaby 10-04-2001 01:36 PM

Hmmm.....lets see.....

speeds
street races
runs from the cops
sold drugs
uses drugs
beats on anyone who looks at him funny
killed someone

Yeah, that just about covers it...nothing out of the ordinary...the cops must have nothing better to do...;)

Well, he sounds like a very pro-social kind of guy...

I have had numerous problems.

My biggest problem is the exhaust, I have recieved 4 modified exhaust tickets, I deserved them for how loud my supertrapp used to be, but the thing is, they give the tickets based on looks, not on sound, I have contacted a lawyer to address the conctitutional issues regarding this law.

Modified exhaust?

Couldn't you theoretically get a ticket then for replacing your muffler with an after market factory replacement?

Strange...

slowerthanu 10-09-2001 03:35 PM

You are exactly correct, in the City of salt Lake, it is by law considered Illegal to replace your exhaust with anything other than what it was equipped with from the factory.

This is a ridiculous law created by a ridiculous city government.

Vote them out.

or....

Fight everything...

Like me.

slowerthanu 10-09-2001 05:53 PM

I do fight every ticket, unfortunately I live in another county so voting them ou tis impossible, it get very tiring having to deal with it so often.

Its ok though, my new exhaust is quiet and it has superior flow characteristics

Ahhh, the joy of superior flow characteristics...

slowerthanu 10-11-2001 01:45 PM

now I need to get a header with a 2.5 inch collector on it.

I have one of those...

They call it a Spoon 4-1...

With a test pipe no less...

A very useful item.

The only problems I have had with the law is the loud system. I try not to bump it when driving through the city where lots of cops hang out. Especially, the doughnut shop.

slowerthanu 10-18-2001 05:52 PM

There is an easy solution to that stereo problem. Gut your car and only run a deck and 2 6.5 inch Polk DB's

2000Pimpinex 10-18-2001 06:50 PM

I wouldn't put polks in my car. MB Quart is the speaker that I love. I think there components are the best.

slowerthanu 10-19-2001 01:57 AM

Oh, I was just kidding with you anyways. I have the DB's and I love em'. I used to be strictly Infinity, then I went expensive with Diamond and then I went back to Polks, they sounded good and were inexpensive.

RyaN95i4 10-26-2001 09:48 AM

i get followed a lot...

lucky and only been pulled over a couple times for BS...i guess thats lucky :/

makes me wish i would have done engine mods before body mods. woulda been lot faster and attracted less attention :/ oh well
