welcome the new member: brianhatchie
ive been driving this baby since august, and its been hardly driven by its single previous owner. only 50k miles on this biatch. Hardly any scratches, silver polished paint. 1983-84 Accord Hatchback 5sp Manual 1.8L . K&N Cold Air Intake System Custom Electric Intake-Blower New Shocks Custom Foot Pedals Generic Grey Bucket Racing Seats (tempted to remove rear seats) GT - Lightweight Steering Wheel Original Shift Knob stock rims, stock look. beefy slightly slick front tires for front-wheel drive, and high grip rear tires. I brought this to a shop to make sure there werent any misconfigurations or fallous setups. i should dyno this when i get enough mods to it. The HP/Trq is only estimated. here is a pic from the INTERNET, soon I will post real images |
Nice. i sounds like a classic. i never seen that version of a accord in my life. whats crazier is they make parts for it.
well welcome to the board. keep us updated on that project. |
Welcome!
|
whats great is I live in the desert, which is perfect for the intake system I have setup. yea, i havent seen the same car as mine ever. it feels like a rarity, but I think there are a lot in european countries.
I'm thinking about making a large hole on the front fender. Shape it up to fit a forced intake system, ahh, that'd be so l33t! see this pic? its in the snow, i bet that car would never survive in the snow, it's small tires (stock) do no good. |
with that intake system I'd think you should be puttin out closer to 150hp at least
|
150bhp you say? ah... do i hear a new project? :D
|
How's it goin, welcome to HST
|
30 hp off an intake :D :D :D
which forced induction system you looking at? |
i think i got maybe 10hp out of my intake....if i'm lucky...
|
i dont think i have ever seen a dyno were a person more then 5 off there intake.
|
yea, always depends on the car. you see, i'm planning on either a hood intake or a fender intake. i have a carburator engine, which means i have the big ass round air filter, opposed to the newer cars with the small cone filters. having this type of filter, i dont need any filter at the end of the piping. - which ultimately means i can get more air suction through the piping. :)
i dont think i can get 30 extra horse, but i think i can get 20. my car is about 2000 lbs or less, and with a smaller engine, any modding is highly effective. |
sweet post pics and when your modded post vids of you beating v8's
|
i dont know about beating V8s'.
but i do agree lets see some pics of this beast. at first i thought you meant like Turbo or SC as in forced induction. i forgot that an intake was Fi also. |
yeah from what i've heard, little intakes like mine add close to nothing...
|
Nice to see a classic:yes:
|
A friend of mine told me to do a swap, preferably an Integra GSR engine... roughly 170hp. Combining that with the stock weight of my car, approxm less than 2,000 lbs,, I will have real good acceleration. Also with a swap, I will be able to have fuel injection for the racing chip, and a possibility for a turbo charger.
anyone have any ideas about: www.electricsupercharger.com ? this looks pretty impressive when its only installed into the intake. watch some of the videos, it has a cool sound to it too. only downfall is that this eats roughly 12v from the battery. |
Yeah why don't u do the h22 swap into the accord u might get a lil more out of it.
|
maxed out, thing is, i dont know what the max engine size i can fit under my hood. currently, i have a 1.8L engine, which is real small looking. I don't get how I can pull so much right now with such a small engine... heh...
h22, is that a prelude? |
yes it is and that's what most accord owners swap into their rides. it was just a thought. The h22 is a 2.2 DOHC VTEC and the accord engine bay is pretty big
|
i was talking to some mobil enthusiasts the other day, and they said if i do swap it with a integra gsr or prelude engine, my car would definitely be in the 13's, due to it's less than 2000lb weight.
anyone know how much money a swap + labor would round out to? prob $5k? Thats a ton of cash... |
you can get the whole thiong done for around 3.5-4 on a GSR-B18c becuase those are a easy find in local yards. as for the H22a 5-5.5K more things need in the H22.
|
damn, i guess b18c is something ill look for then, cause the less hassle, the better...
so $3.5k-4k for a b18c, i dont think im ready to do a swap myself, what would you estimate the labor to do the swap? |
that was included in the prices i gave you.
|
$1k for new shocks, $1k for new tires/rims, $600 for new brake system
------^ all these go first before the engine |
yes they do. youll have to upgrade your whole suspension and front axle. do the the enigne being a B series and your car being F series. the F series axle wont work with the B series motor.
|
wait what? how do you know what series mine is? where can i find specs on my original car?
|
all accords are F series. expectr japan has type S accord which have H series motors in them. as for were to find specs check out autotrader.com then for other specs just search for them.
|

not worth it. why not save up and get a real supercharger. its a waste and i have never once heard of that company.
