install shortthrow adapter

ok if you all don't know I have a 96 accord and I just went and purchased a shortshifter adapter for $20 from a guy parting out his h22 accord
but if someone can give me a good guide to installing it, please gimme a hand.

I don't have a link to a guide or anything, but its VERY easy. Maybe a 10-15 minute install.

Remove your console and stuff so you can see the linkage. Disconnect the cable running to the stick. Put the adapter on the stick and reconnect the cable to the adapter.

Bingo... you're short shifting now :)

yeah i kinda figured it out after lookin at it but I just didnt want to eff anything up thanks tho

CD5Passion 07-11-2004 12:56 AM

I put it in afterwork and god damn it makes such a difference in shifting

Sorry about being slow on the reply. Glad that it made a big difference for you.
If anyone needed a how-to in the future, although it is for a 6th Gen Accord.

I do have one question, there are 3 settings I can put it...would the shortest throw be on the setting farthest away or closest to the front

Did you get the B&M? That's what I used to have and it had 3 settings. Anyway, its the hole that is furthest toward your dash. Imagine the cable is in a fixed position (i.e. in neutral). If you want the stick closer to you, the cable will align with the furthest hole AFAIK.

CD5Passion 07-12-2004 12:11 AM

by furthest towards the dash you mean closest to the dash..dont word things diffrently it confuses the hell out me lol but thanks man

94_AcCoRd_EX 07-12-2004 06:03 PM

Heh sorry man.

Yeah, closest to the dash.

CD5Passion 07-12-2004 06:42 PM

thanks bro
I'm not trying to confuse anyone but...
I played around with it today and I think I may of noticed something.....when I have it closest to the dash it seems gears 1-3-5 are shorter than the 2-4...when I put it in the one closest to me it seems that 2-4 where shorter than 1-3-5
so is it possible that that if I put it in the middle setting all gears will be even?.....oooorr am I getting dillusional?

94_AcCoRd_EX 07-12-2004 10:07 PM

Hrm, I think you're dillusional ;)

The throw distance from gear 3-->4 should be identical to 4-->3. All you are doing is slightly altering the neutral position setting...

CD5Passion 07-13-2004 12:28 AM

heh gotcha....as long as I'm being dilusional

vtracer20 07-13-2004 09:42 AM

yeah i got the b&M from 94_accord_ex....it pretty easy to do it can only go on one way. I dont even remember what setting mines on but i'm soon to be getting the 4bidden shortshifter so the b&m is gonna collect dust in my garage

CD5Passion 07-13-2004 10:46 AM

^is that the one that actually comes with the shift lever?

94_AcCoRd_EX 07-13-2004 12:31 PM

^^^

I'd like to know also. I'm running the PSpec full shifter (C's clone more or less), but I'm not that happy with the lever height...

CD5Passion 07-14-2004 02:06 PM

it'd be nice to have a lever that didnt look like it belonged in a jeep
