Anyone know of a y8 intake manifold write up?

Hey,

Doing a y8 intake manifold swap... onto my z6.

It looks kinda straight forward but there are def. some hang ups...

Just wondering if anyone knows of a write up... the only one I've seen is for a y8 onto a a6 which I know is different.

So far I know the pcv valve set up is different... on the y8 it's on the head and the z6 it's in the intake manifold or passes through it at least...

I'm gunna have my head off in the next couple weeks so it should be easier to get an idea of then but... I like to know what I'm in for before I start... makes it MUCH easier.

It shouldnt be that difficult. Once you take if, it will make more sense bro....

No I know it will... I'm just being lazy...

But there are some extra sensors on the y8 that I may or may not need to block off so a write up before doing it will make it much easier to be prepared.

I think the IAT is integrated/mounted on the manifold itself on the Z6. On the Y8, it is not.....

yeah, thats true

(Neither of these are very good, and arent how-to's...)
Did you get a 99-00 or 96-98?

is there a reason? for awhile people thought the y8 mani was the cats meow but after some testing and thorough comparisons were done it turned out the z6 is better for mid-top end.

For real?

Yeah I don't know... I got it cuz it's got a MUCH larger collection area... and I'm going to be going turbo in the summer so... figured it was worth it...

I can't imagine it's not better for turbo I mean the volume of that thing has to be twice as much as the z6.

I'm going to be doing it at the same time as the cam springs and retainers and HG so ... I won't be able to tell for nothing...

Maybe I'll hold off... wait till the cam and all that is set then change it see if I notice any difference.

Or maybe I'll just hold off till I turbo the car... at that point I'm going to be getting some dyno tuning done...

Pruven performance is local to me and they're supposed to be good... they get in all the magazines and have managed to stay in business for at least 4-5 years now so... we'll see.

I'm cheap though.. not sure I'd spend the money to see the difference between the two intake manifolds till my buddies shop finally gets the dyno software for their dyno (it's for emissions testing but they can get the software they just have to pay for it and like me they're cheap (also not a tuning shop... just service type stuff)).

Any links you got to info would be great.

i'll try to find the info.

if you're gonna boost anyway I wouldn't even bother, even if it was better all around I doubt you're gonna be able to tell. I'd just focus on the turbo setup and have one less headache.

Yeah I'll see... if it's going to go on easy then I'm prob. just going to do it while the heads off... but maybe not... I don't know...

I got soo much going on between work, kids, car, and wife that I'm running in 20 different directions.
