Gage and wire thickness
 
can someone explain the relationship between gage and thethickness of the wire ? i noticed the thinner the wire is the higher the gage number. just make some light for me please

I think the thicker the wire is the smaller the number is. CAuse on my old system i had 12 gauge power wire which was small and then i got the thick one which was 4.

It is a standardized system, the gage of the wire or AWG (American Wire Gage) does get larger as the wire gets smaller in diameter and as the wire gets larger in diameter the gage gets smaller. Somehow they came up with table but it has been a standard for as long as I know.
