fuel injector service

I have about 55k miles on my ride I haven't had the fuel injectors cleaned. Should I have one done or not? Besides for three new trannies, I have'nt had any major services or work done. Is there anything that I should do to get back some horses lost through wear and tear?

hmm, that sounds like a good idea but i don't think it's wort the trouble.

Just run some fuel injector cleaner through the gas it helped a little on my 97 accord

At 55k you shouldn't have to worry about that. Every 3-5k miles, just throw some quality injector cleaner through it.

If I remember my lubepros training correctly, I think you should have an injector service at least once a year. It will do wonders for your car, WAY better than that gas tank crap. What they do is pump souped up cleaner DIRECTLY through your injectors, then rev the crap out of it. You'll prolly have all kinds of white smoke that smells GREAT. It runs about 50-60$ I think. well worth it.

Only $50ish? That's not bad at all. I'd do it every now and then for that price.

i wonder if atf will take care of it. sometimes i used it to clean the carbon deposits in my engine

Does anybody know if jiffy lube does a good job? They charge $50, I believe, and it only takes 15 minutes.

Honestly, it just depends on which location. 15 minutes isn't long at all. If they have good mechanics working there, that's fine, but I generally shy away from taking my car to quick lube joints. How much does Honda want for it?

$69....And the service guy told me that they basically do the same thing as Jiffy Lube, except Honda uses Protec. What's protec? An engine additive I'll asume?

Never heard of protec. Just make sure that they dont just dump crap into your fuel tank. They should hang a tank up in your hood and let it be sucked directly into your fuel manifold...I think.

Got one of these done along with a throttle plate cleaning in auto tech class. Worked great, car doens't shake at idle anymore and i gained back some horsies

While I was getting my oil changed, I went ahead and had them do the fuel injector cleaning and as soon as I pulled out of there I noticed a huge difference in performance. I noticed about an extra 5-10 horsepower. I recommend everyone get this done especially if your over 100,000 miles like me.
