amplifiers

I want these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=32 823

that thing says it has 600 W rms...what kind of amp is best compatible with this.

FullSink18 04-07-2003 02:42 PM

Well you will have to find out if that is total RMS or each has 600 RMS.
If they each run at 600 the try finding an hcq1300 amp i think thats the name it runs a 1200watt, but you will have to check and see if it can be bridged done or not.

RU_Teg 04-07-2003 03:47 PM

well since those are supposedly 600 watts RMS then you should try getting a 2 channel amp with about 1200-1500 watts if you want those subs to hit hard...If you've got the money then try getting a rockford fosgate or phoenix gold amp...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=18 796

Would these be perfect for the subs? thanks.

Accord Man 04-07-2003 09:28 PM

nope..

you'll need an amp than can put out 1200w rms
@4ohms stereo
or
@2ohms mono

I could start listing amps.. but its better if you give us whats possible for you, and we'll say yes or no.

accord98lx 04-07-2003 09:47 PM

The seller said it is 600w for BOTH subs. Dont know if thats any help in the process of choosing an amp.

Accordman..you can list amp .. makes it easier for me to choose 1 that'll work perfectly for the sub. thanks very much.

Accord Man 04-07-2003 09:55 PM

strange.. it says 600w stereo, so 600 for both..

but the least powerful 10" sub made by audiobahn is 450w, if I'm not mistaken..

anyways if 600w is all you need..

look for something with
300 x 2 @4ohms stereo
or
600 x 1 @2ohms mono

accord98lx 04-07-2003 11:09 PM

..

accord98lx 04-07-2003 11:10 PM

sorry ... read the next one

accord98lx 04-07-2003 11:14 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=18 796

I think that looks perfect. $300...jeebus.

accordracer84 04-08-2003 01:00 AM

I believe that the sub's audiobahn put's in they're boxes aren't one's that you can buy seperatly. They are one's that are below they're entry level sub's. That's why they're so cheap.

That amp would be a perfect match for the subs but i would just save your money and buy some different audiobahn subs and get a box built or buy a prefabbed one. Still buy the amp because it's a very versitile amp because most of Audiobahn's amp's can be run at 1 ohm. I hope this doesn't confuse you more but you don't want to buy something that your not going to be happy with. RIGHT?

accord98lx 04-08-2003 02:24 AM

I think 600 watts rms for both the sub isnt bad. I'll be happy with it and I believe Audiobahn is a "quality" product and well known. Ive hard some 150 watts rms 10 in JL Audio subs and those things are pretty loud...so I can expect the same sound from the 600w audiobahn..if not...better (hopefully). My friend has a single 10 inch sub in a bandpass box. I know its not a big brand sub too but that thing pounds loud "enuff". I dont want a sound system that can be heard 1 miles away. I just want to be able to hear a crisp clean bass note. not the stock flat bass note. As long these subs is louder then my friends 2 10 inch sony xplods from walmart..then Im happy.

Now that I kno the amplifier is perfect with the sub..I'll see if I can find another one but cheaper.

Anyone else have any suggestion on the amp or any input on this whole thing? thanks

Btw.. Im on a strict budge. I think i have a max of $500 for this and thats all Im willing to spend. I already spent $400 on a alpine HU. And Im going to spend another $500 for the sub and amp.

The Audiobahn will cost me around 200 shipped and 350 shipped for the amp. I think thats a "steal" if you ever seen the prices of some of the audio store where I live.

accord98lx 04-08-2003 03:33 AM

Here some more amps I found for cheaper but wonder if compatible.

1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=18 797

2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=18 797

had to resort to sony xplod. They are cheap. Considering the big brand name amps with 1200 watts cost at least 300 bucks..and thats w/o shipping.

Accord Man 04-09-2003 10:30 PM

both are ok..

its going to be very loud..

which is cool, but the quality will be quiet sucky.. like for most people..

RU_Teg 04-09-2003 10:36 PM

are sony amps good for bass? I'd go with the first sony amp, my friend bought it for his 2 S12L5 kicker's and they sound pretty good in his suburban...

Accord Man 04-09-2003 10:42 PM

like i said, they're ok..

obviously the Class D is slighlty advantaged..

Anyways, I'm not fan of this setup.. but hey.. you do with what you can.

accord98lx 04-09-2003 11:04 PM

Ok I just want to double check everything before I buy it.

These sony amp

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=18 797

500w RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms
900w RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms

Would be compatible with these subs

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3017154345

which are 600 watts rms BOTH..300 rms EACH...(when they say 300 rms each..does it necessesarily mean that it HAS to be at 300w rms or we can set it to....200w rms)

I know that sounds weird but how is 500x1 @ 4 ohms compatible with this sub system?

I am n00bie at this and Im trying my best to learn guys. I really appreciate helping me. Thanks very much.

Accord Man 04-09-2003 11:26 PM

the 2nd link is dead.. I'm guessing its the same as what was originally posted (1st post).

Impedance: 4 Ohm Stereo ==== 2 terminals, 4 ohms each.

so you can achieve a 2ohm load--mono..

your amp will be feeding 900w x 1 @ 2 ohms.

if the info you gave me, and whats displayed on the site (e-bay).. then everything is fine.

accord98lx 04-09-2003 11:45 PM

thank you very much!!!!!!!;)

accord98lx 04-10-2003 07:15 PM

Ok quick question..

Would these amp also work with the subs I want?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tegory=39 738

Just in case, the subs specs are as follow:

600w rms for 2 subs, thats 300 rms each. thanks.

When I say does it work with the sub..Im trying to say would the amp work with the sub w/o damaging the sub or the amp itself in anyway if everything is installed correctly. thanks

Accord Man 04-10-2003 07:58 PM

No.

its too weak..

sc0rch 04-20-2003 01:56 PM

you dont want those....that box is horrible......it sounds like shit........trust me....i know a couple people who bought um..........you get what you pay for.....and even off ebay there cheep............find something else.......and do not use that box

h0ndakilla 04-24-2003 11:20 PM

i dont understand the RMS and other stuff.. can someone help me out with a good system?

sc0rch 04-25-2003 01:19 AM

RMS.......is the continuious power handeling of a subwoofer and the continuious power output of an amp.......RMS is what the amp runs nominal at and the nominal handeling of the subs.........that meens no damage to either if they are kept at that level....but they can be pushed beyond that but you take a risk of blowing both........

say you have 2 subs that are both 200 watts RMS each and 400 peak............you might wanna run an amp that is 250wats per channel(250x2) RMS so that you can put a little over the rms into the subs to get more bump when a bass line drops hard.............i always try and go over the RMS of the subs by atleast 100 watts per channel but it depends on the amp really and the sub......

Hondakilla........whats your price range?

anything else you want explained?

Non_Affiliated 04-30-2003 11:50 PM

I say a JBL BP600.1, or a BP1200.1.
BP600.1
300 Watts x 1 @ 4 Ohms
600 Watts x 1 @ 2 and 1 Ohms
they usally can be found faround $200 New.

BP1200.1
600 Watts x 1 @ 4 Ohms
1200 Watts x 1 @ 2 and 1 Ohms.
Usally can be found for just under $300 New.

There are so many others to out there to list also. No Offence but look beyond the ebay Sony stuff.
