D16a6 cams
 
i am looking to get a cam for my d16a6 engine. just wondering if anyone has put one in that engine and what kind of power they got. an engine swap is in the future for my crx but i want to get a little more power in the one i have for now. some advice on what lift and duration to get would be helpful. i am looking for a mild cam but not too mild. i am willing to up the injector size and a few other things, hopefully that helps in knowing what cam would be good.

Sorry, I don't have much experience with not vtec motors. I'm not sure what the best cam for you would be. What exactly are you trying to acheive? Top end? Low end torque? Give more details and I might be able to help a little more.

dont waste your money

if you plan on upgrading- its only a waste of money.

if you want more power as a temp set up that will work on other cars- get a 50 shot.

i want power all the time. not when i have the extra cash to buy nitrous. and the engine is gonna go in my g/f's crx when i do my swap. just some overall power would be good. but if i lose a little low end that ok.

well, he said hes going to put the motor in his g/f's car after hes done with it.

i THINK zex makes a cam for the a6

i have found cams. thats not the problem. i need to know what lift and duration to get.

again what kind of power are you looking for? Top end? Midrange? Low end? This plays a major factor. Also does a smooth idle matter to you? The more drastic you go with a cam the rougher the idle will be.

if you get more than .5mm above stock lift, you should get inner and outer valve springs and retianers to hold them in, otherwise you will ahve valve float

i would like all around power, but top end is more important than anything. if i lose a little low end thats fine. i dont mind rough idle. im not expecting it to idle like it does now. and i know about changing the springs for more lift and to keep the valves from floating. what kind of differance would .5mm do? and can someone help me with the stock cam specs, i cant find it anywhere

If you are looking for all around power and driveability then go with a mild cam. I have to tell you though, a cam won't do anything for your car if you don't have a good intake and exhaust already on it. Also a fuel pressure regulator to allow more fuel to mix with the extra air that the engine will be inhaling. A cam by itself will add about as much horsepower as an APC sticker.

well, all the kids around here seem get all kinda of hp from their apc stickers. lol anyway. i plan to stick with a mild cam, i just dont want to spend that kind of money and not get anything out of it. i am at the point now that i need a cam to get anymore power. would the most mild cam i can find make a noticable difference? the one i am considering has int. 207 deg/ exh. 209deg. duration and .384" int./.376" exh. lift. how does that sound? that is the most mild i have found. like i said before it will end up in my g/f's crx when i do my swap, so it cant be too crazy for her.
