moon roof goes half way

when i press on my moon roof button to open, it opens only half way? What the hell is wrong with this stupid piece off crap? is it the motor? or something else?

blind34_1 03-06-2003 01:30 PM

a half moon!

does the motor make any noise when it gets stuck? like its trying to continue pulling back? I'm think maybe a lack of lubricant, but I couldnt tell you where, Ive never had this problem.

kidd_honda 03-06-2003 07:53 PM

um yeah???

i hear cranking noise when i press the open button, but it still not opening. Um yah!! i will try the some lubricant and maybe it will work, but will respond soon if it works.

Does it open quickly to the half-way point and then stop, or does it struggle most of the way?

kidd_honda 03-07-2003 05:33 PM

it stops half-way

it just stops half-way and struggles and stops. I tried to put the lubricant and still nothing happens.

94_AcCoRd_EX 03-07-2003 05:46 PM

I'd take it apart and check the tracks for obstructions.

ShEaNy 03-07-2003 07:29 PM

moon roof....or sunroof.....my freinds moms car moon roof just opens up like an inch and a half (upwards) and just stops...thats what its supposed to do..a sunroof should open right back into the roof..mine goes all the way....i dunno any pics of it?

kidd_honda 03-07-2003 08:43 PM

sorry no pics!!!!

dont have a digital camera to take pics, but i know for sure this moon roof opens all the way back. Sun roof (I dont even know if thats the correct term) but this thing should open all the way. my other civic had a moon roof too and it opens all the way. i should see if i could take the whole thing out and see whats tha deal.

ebpda9 03-07-2003 11:51 PM

i would look for crapped tracks

ifeldwn02 03-08-2003 02:45 AM

i dthink there might be something in the tracks myself try to check em and see something might be wrong with the tracks themselves good luck man

pimpinprelude 03-16-2003 08:29 AM

hummm.. Has it done it ever since u had it? Or did it just start? What the problem may be is that one time that u opend it there was a small branch out of a tree or something on the glass, cuz on my lude it drops down before it opens just leaving enuff room for something like that to ride on top of the glass and go back in there. And when you try to close it goes back up, which would keep it from comming back out. good luck man..

blind34_1 03-16-2003 11:28 PM

OHH!! Wait a minute, are you sure this is a moon roof or is it sun roof. I'm pretty sure the diff is a moon roof is sliding glass, and a sunroof is not, and it only goes half way back. So maybe your car is one that is only supposed to go halfway back! check around, but I think thats how its supposed to work!

kidd_honda 03-21-2003 10:19 PM

the motor was broken

yup i ripped it apart and discovered that it was broken. After a couple of minutes it will stop working if i turn it on. Gots to get a new motor. Dam!! that sux A$$!!!!

94_AcCoRd_EX 03-21-2003 11:39 PM

Maybe you could check a junkyard for a new motor. Shouldn't cost much from one of them.

pbateson 03-22-2003 01:13 AM

Sunroof is diff. than moonroof?

pimpinprelude 03-29-2003 05:59 PM

yea one pops-up and goes half way back, and the other goes all the way back into the roof. i am not shure which 1 does what.. but thats the dif.

pimpinprelude 04-10-2003 10:47 AM

yea one goes all the way back into the roof, and the other just pops up and goes half way back. i am not shure which one is which......? but thats the diff.

kidd_honda 04-10-2003 12:27 PM

sunroof vs. moonroof

i know that my moonroof supoose to go all the way!!! My other 95 civic coupe that i crashed opens all the way, but my recent coupe does not open all the way.But someone told me that japanese hondas opens all the way and american hondas doesnt.
Not sure if that rumor is true.
